I just ordered Fincar and it should get here in a few days. I am very worried about excessive shedding, since I'm a diffuser. It is still not noticeable when dry---I still can't fully convince my parents it's happening---at least in part because my hair is longish. But I am very concerned that a finasteride shed will introduce me to Visibly Balding Territory.

My urgent question to all finasteride-popping diffusers is, did this happen to you? Are you able to put aside suspicions of "it was all in my paranoid imagination" and say "yes, my hair became visibly thinner."?

When I started the minoxidil a year ago, I had a two and-and-a-half week shed that cost me about 330 hairs a day, but I could see no visible difference up top when it was over. (I still can't figure that shed out, since the minoxidil has proven ineffective for me and sheds are supposed to be a sign that old hairs are being pushed out by impending thicker ones)

Do I have reason to believe that a finasteride shed would be more cosmetically devastating? I know that some of you for whom finasteride worked say you experienced no sheds at all, tho......

Please answer this particular question. I know I'm about to jump into a freezing cold pool, but I wanna know exactly :freaked2: how many degrees below zero it is.

When I first started taking finasteride, I was like you: i.e., the thinning was not visible when the hair was dry.

I didn't experience any dramatic sheds, nor did my hair become visibly thinner before it eventually thickened up (and I started using minoxidil 5% at the same time -- so I was doubly courting shed danger).

There's lots of posts about wild sheds, but I think dramatic shedders are definitely in the minority.

Nope. 2 months into using finasteride I was losing the same amount of hair as I was before taking it.

Thanks. I'm trying not to worry.

Anyone else? Same? Different? I'm talking cosmetically noticeable sheds, not just having more in your hands.

I experienced some more shedding with finasteride. For me, regrowth of hairs lost within last 8 months under propecia has been veeery slooow. But now I can see new thin/thick hairs popping out at my temples, nothing for the moment at my front/midscalp...
