Dear forum members,

For 5 years i have been trying to deal with hairloss and the most awful inflammation.
I have seen 3 dermatologists.
First derm said the redness occured due to too much DHT. He prescribed fina.
Second derm thought Frontal Fibrosing at the beginning, then later changed his mind and went with Seborrheic Dermatitis.
The third derm also said Seborrheic Dermatitis.
But non of the treatments work, my skin still feels tight and is very inflamed

I am still on propecia (1,5 years) and Nizoral.

I tried:
- Steriods (Butavate, Betamethason etc.)
- T/gel
- Tacrolimus
- Itraconazol
- Magnesium oil
- Emu oil
- Copper peptides
- Aloe vera

Steriods never really calmed it down. Perhaps for a few hours, next morning after applying it would still be red

Is there anything else i can do that can reduce it and save my hair?

Thank you very much.

I know it's a long shot but have you tried eliminating things from your diet? I know there have been some cases of people having serious problems with their scalp from dairy (me included, tight, red, spotty painful scalp) and even sulfites.

If you've tried all other avenues I would try eliminating common food allergens and seeing if there's a change. Good luck anyway

DHT does not cause major inflammation like that. So it is not DHT related.

Can you describe the symptoms? Is it constant or only sometimes? Is it always red like that? Have you had in depth hormone and vitamin levels run (such as zinc, vitamin d, free thyroid hormones, etc.)?

Thank you all for your reply's!
I have tried dieting, but perhaps have not given it a far chance (only tried it for 3-4 weeks). It would definitely be worth the try. So i will further look into it and start with it this week.

I haven't heard of n Acetylcysteine yet. I do take Curcuma, but i will add this to see if it makes any difference!

Does anyone know if RU calms down inflammation? My skin condition get's worse from Minoxidil, so would RU still help using another vehicle?

I’m gonna tell you something nobody else on the internet will.

It’s not the diet, it’s not the finasteride, Nizoral is useless as you can see, minoxidil is also not the root but it’s best to eliminate it for this. It’s the exposure to screens. Try this: eliminate any contact with a computer, laptop or television. You can still use your phone. When I say eliminate I mean zero. Nothing. Not even for literally five seconds. Do that for a month. Eat whatever you want, drink whatever you want, use a mild normal shampoo. Don’t even touch the desktop, laptop, keyboard, mouse or pad. Don’t be in the same room with an open, working computer.

If your dermatitis isn’t cured in a month, I will give you 100€. Serious, you can PM me for my PayPal.

Thank you! It's good to know that i do not have to try Dutasteride in order to calm the inflammation.

My skin is constantly red throughout the day. Sometimes there's a bit more redness than other times, but it always is quite noticeable. It always feels tight, sometimes very itchy (not always), but there is never a moment that i don't 'feel' my scalp being inflamed. In moments of stress (even with a little stress) i have a feeling that someone is pulling my hair. At the end of a very busy day the whole top part of my scalp feels like a gaze. I do not have redness on the sides/back of my scalp.

I have not yet checked my hormones and vitamin levels. But i will ask my doctor to do so:)

I do believe that your solution might help to some extend, i can imagine that staring for longer periods of time at computer/tv screens might release some stress hormones etc. But unfortunately in today's society it will be very difficult to have this as a solution. Most office jobs (including mine) involve working with computers. I am very dependable of my job, so not working with them even for a month is simply not possible. I do appreciate your suggestion.

I'm just hoping for another solution which does not include me quitting my job;)

You probably have autoimmune disease ,lupus or sjogrens syndrome. Get yourself checked by immunologist. Best luck.

May be a localized inflammatory response. Dry mouth and eyes are sjogrens symptoms. He might have low grade chronic inflammation through out and over inflammatory response in scalp. Seems to me a moderate systemic lupus.

You definitely should start with an in depth blood test. Go to a specialist so they can run an in depth immunology, thyroid, hormone and vitamin/mineral profile. It may be something treatable this way.
