I am currently in crisis mode, after 3 trials with Rogaine and no signs of improvement, actually signs of failure..You see I am almost 20 and my hair loss isnt noticably in public cause I have longer hair and it covers the recession pretty well I suppose, but if I pull it back you can see the thinning alot! I can see my front peak going down very soon, the sides are almost completely gone. so yea PLEASE! I need help..I am prepared to move onto something else. I was wondering if Folligen, Tricomin are only complements to Rogaine or do they work alone? Any experiences on the board with either? And are either as messy as Rogaine? Answers are appreciated. Thanx guys

What do you mean by trials? Unless each of your trials consisted of using Rogaine for at least 9 months, twice everyday then they were completely invalid.

I was just wondering is there anything anyone recommends besides it..thank you

Any finasteride or spironolactone or dutasteride or any DHT inhibitors in there somewhere?

Ive been taking finasteride since March of 03, so 15 months with ok results, I think it is slowing down the hairloss alot, and up till a year ago made my hair thicker but the last 3 months the hair in the front has gottan noticably thinner so this is the cause of my concern.

FuneralforaFriend: I'm sorry to hear that your 8 month trial on minoxidil wasn't successful. Before quitting it completely there are some other factors you should consider. First and foremost your going to have to be prepared for the incumbent shedding following the abatement of minoxidil. Whether you realize it or not some of your hairs may have been rejuvenated during your initial trial with minoxidil. When these hairs are deprived of the substance which revived them, their eventually going to return to their orignal state. Secondly, minoxidil is an additive treatment that when used in conjunction with a DHT inhibitor such as finasteride or spironolactone elicits much better results. I firmly feel that the best way to treat hairloss is to cover all the avenues. This entails maintaining a healthy scalp ( T-gel/nizoral), inhibiting DHT (proscar/spironolactone) and rejuvenating/stimulating weak hairs (minoxidil). The reason your minoxidil trial may not have been successful is because you only covered one of these avenues. Lastly, there is no real replacement for minoxidil. There are a vast array of treatments available but the majority of them only work to a very limited extent. I think you should get back on the minoxidil, stay on proscar, get some nizoral and ride it out for a year. Best of Luck.

Hear hear!... Kramer's response is about the best advice you are going to hear on this board. He pretty much says it all.
