Hello guys, I am new here.I have a question. Im not sure if you guys have heard but apperently scientists have discovered a news cause of male pattern baldness. something called prostagladin d2 or pgd2. I was wondering that does this mean DHT is not a cause and the taking a drug like propecia is useless now?
what is your opinion on it?

here is the article

Im going to see my doctor next week and ask him as well, but what does it mean for guys who take propecia for hairloss? if PGD2 is the cause now, does it mean DHT is not a cause?

please someone help. Im confused now. do we still take a drug like propecia or won'y matter anymore?

Your post doesn't really make sense. You are saying that since doctors found a new potential cause of hair loss, that all pre-existing data and treatments are now no longer valid?

DHT inhibition is a very well documented and demonstrated form of treating hair loss. Finasteride and Dutasteride are still viable treatments. Hair loss is a very complex process with a number of different mechanisms at play. This new discovery means they are tackling the issue from another angle, and will potentially be able to create better treatments in the future.

Also keep in mind that this is just a new discovery. It may in fact lead to a dead end, or it may lead to a new treatment. The FDA approval process takes about 5 years, so any treatment resulting from this discovery is likely very far away. Treat your hair loss now with current proven methods, then move to this one in the future if it pans out.
