According to this information on the clinical trial, I think it's a drug for Androgenetic Alopecia not for AA.
Because as you can see on the exclusion criteria " Patients with scars of the scalp or any other disease of the scalp or hair- Having critical hepatic disease, renal disease, heart disease and hematologic disease" .
So AA is a disease.
And, as you can see on their website, they sell minoxidil, and they are creating new markets by developping new domains and effects like hair regrowth. You could see also that " Taisho Pharmaceutical first launched the RiUP hair regrowth treatment for men in 1999, as Japan’s first direct OTC drug, with the indications of hair loss in premature alopecia, hair restoration and the prevention of hair loss. Looking ahead, we will continue to redouble our efforts to help alleviate the concerns of men about the thinning of their hair, and thereby enable them to lead more confident lifestyles".
So, I'm sure it's a new drug for Androgenetic Alopecia.
