Whilst some 'sides' are seemingly exacerbated by anxiety and personality type i think it's unfair to generalise. Certainly, brain fog and libido can be imagined. Severe ball ache is not imagined. I'm not unduly anxious but if, and it's a big if, i am going to get PFS then it's only sensible to check on these forums if any timely action is advised. Anyway, i appreciate the help.

Actually ball ache is exactly what I was thinking about. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that your imagining it, I'm saying that pelvic tension is often caused by stress so freaking out will

A) prevent you from healing
B) possibly make it worse

the only proven side-effect that's permanent is penile shrinkage, erectile dysfunction. your brain has the ability to recover, but your penis doesn't

Penile shrinkage? It does feel tad smaller down there i have to say. What if anything can you do to recover size?

It's been 2 weeks now since I stopped (recap - 0.25mg EOD for 4 weeks). I get ball ache with erections but strangely only when with a girl and not with p**rn. The prospect of actually having sex seems to bring on the ache. Ejaculate volume and force still about 25% below what I'm used to. Flaccid penis feels a tad smaller. Difficult to maintain any kind of erection post ejaculation. Libido not quite what i'm used to. Gosh...when i add up the pills i only took 4 x 1mg tablets of this stuff across 1 month. I mean how much damage can you do on 4 pills?! Hopefully i'll recover fully in another 2 weeks.

Penile shrinkage is odd.

My erect length is the same (I measured) but my relaxed state is smaller. I've only been off propecia for three days and understand it may take a few more days to get back to normal

There is no such thing as flaccid shrinkage, if your dick has shrunk then it shrank, it can't all of a sudden grow back to normal size when you get a boner. What's happening is that one of the muscles responsible for erections is causing your dick to contract, there is absolutely nothing wrong with your penis. If you remain calm and get off propecia it will go away, if you freak out you'll need physio as well as possibly psychotherapy

Hey, I promise it is a little smaller. Its feels like when you have been out in the cold and your dick shrinks a little. If you pull it it is normal size but its just shrivelled otherwise.

It made me quit propecia because of this - do you think it is psychological or physiological?

Right now it's physiological but it can become psychological. Let me guess, laying down or urinating helps it? That should be proof that it's muscular. Your having pelvic floor issues- it's a muscle cramp, nothing more, it just happens to be in a place where people store stress (think of animals putting their tails between their legs.).I've read many instances where people got off and had that exact same symptom resolve after quitting.

Any advice on what to do?

I'd love to go back on propecia but right now I don't dare. My girlfriend goes away for the summer and I might even try again then.

I'm not sure because I may get the same symptoms again

Try 0.5mg EOD.

I'm doing 0.25mg EOD...not even sure if it'll do anything at this dosage. I've read that 0.25 might be effective.

Well, that's obvious.

1) stay off propecia
2) relax
3) take hot baths when you can
4) l-citurilline or cialis might help a bit.
3) if it doesn't go away after a month or so DONT PANIC. Go to a certified pelvic floor therapist and work that **** out.

Remember that there's nothing wrong with your dick. Damage of any sort doesn't magically resolve itself when you piss- it's just the muscles relaxing. It's also extremely important that you address your anxiety if it persists, you'll have tremendous issues fixing the problem if you don't.

that may be due to anxiety

Where is that proven?

and plz don't start with the dosage or rats aren't humans argument. it's year 2016 already and i'm tired or repeating the same **** over and over in every thread. the enzymes are the same and finasteride's effect is the same and also the effect size (just look at the fall in DHT levels -- it's even smaller in rats). these studies were done to investigate this particular issue, to help us make a decision whether to take finasteride or not, to find out why exactly finasteride causes erectile dysfunction. this is the biological mechanism to it. there you go.
there was actually a third study as well that showed less nerves and weaker erection in rats after long term finasteride usage.

It's not necessarily permanent though. A study by Irwin Goldstein showed that the penis reverts to normal when the rats hormones are reverted back to normal. The issue with lots of PFS guys is that they don't respond to hormones normally with some requiring extra high doses while others don't respond at all.

Quick update. I've been off finasteride for 1 month now. I'd say my penis is back to its old size, maybe it was just in my head. Couple of tips, lay off the p**rn and have as much sex as possible. Do anything to reconnect with your soldier e.g. trim properly down there, and expose those nerve endings.
