Permanent or temporary hair loss?

Hello,
I have a problem and i need some answers. I thank you in advance.
My hair loss problem started two and a half years ago. Ever since then, i've been losing my hair gradually. From the top, sides, and back. I have to say that there was an event preceding the hair loss which i think is causing it. But i can't say for certain that it is causing it.
My questions are: can depression cause hormone imbalance? I still have hair but they're either growing thinner or not growing longer than a few millimeters. So can my hair grow longer?

Yes depression can cause hormone imbalance. They are linked to each other, that’s why people struggle to get out of depression. Your body struggles with hormone imbalance and you struggle to sleep and wake up feeling depressed. Anti depressants start by balancing your hormones.

Also depression can cause shedding.

Thanks for the responds. I am pretty sure i am slightly depressed. I had a full set of hair prior to that event (almost a military cut). And six months later, i have thinning hair? That to me is not possible. So how would i know if my hormones are out of wack? Can i do a blood test to determine that?
Thanks.

Im not sure. You should consult a doctor about that. I know you can get your thyroid checked, that can wreck havoc on your mood. Like i said, consult a doctor.
