Credit card is 8% bank commission

Or you could take thousands in cash which includes exchange rates etc

So how do people normally choose to do it?

I am in the UK

Your card is 8% commission in the UK? That's robbery. My US credit card has 1.5% cash back and no foreign transaction fees.

You need to change your bank dude.

If you can't, I personally wouldn't be comfortable carrying thousands of dollars of cash in Turkey, so I'd probably write a check or money order.

No to use a card in Turkey there are massive fees added on by vender.

@Medina I got money from sainsburys and travelled over with it in an envelope, was initially concerned but my clinic met me at the airport and I always had an advisor with me.
