Panicked youngster seeks advice!

Greeting guys, I'm 20 years old and recently began to lose my hair. It's not yet a drastic situation, but I'm determined to do all I can to prevent it from becoming such. I've got some moderate thining at my crown and my hairline has receded at the temples. Because of the way my hair naturally sits it's almost imperceptable to anyone but me, but it's enough to leave me in no doubt that it's happening.

I just stumbled across this site yesterday and in going through the threads Ive come across some new info and I think Ive worked out what i should be buying. But I'd like some comfirmation...

At the moment I'm using thymuskin shampoo and hair treatment, which is quite costly. I'm about to run out of that and was gonna buy some more untill I found this site.
Would I be better off with PROSCAR/FINCAR? I understand there is a 2% risk of temporary sexual side effects, and you have to divide the pills but I'm willing to chance that if it's a significantly better product.

And Ive seen people taking that in combination with 'Minoxodil (rogain?). Should I also be buying that? Is that a similar treatment to Thymuskin?

Any other advice would be great...I'm sure you guys have heard these questions dozens of times but your help would be greatly appreciated.

Do your research on Propecia. Finasteride is the active ingredient in Propecia. Propecia comes in the 1mg form.

However, there is also Proscar which is the same as Propecia, only 5mg.

Fincar is the generic version of Proscar.

Type Finasteride in the search bar above and you'll find out loads about it.

yeah I know. sorry, my question basically is - is it the consensus that propecia/finasteride is the best product available. I'm planning to buy today (dont wanna waste time) so i would like to know whether I'm significantly better getting PROCAR than Thymsukin or whether I should take them in combination.

If you have male pattern baldness then get on finasteride, quick fast.

Don't jump straight into using minoxidil without research. Once you start, you can't really stop.

You should think about that one. Weigh up the situation - like morning applications etc.

They say Nizoral is the best shampoo.

Finasteride (proscar or propecia) is great stuff - but it's strong and if I were you I'd "save it for last".

Look into these treatments . . .

Revivogen serum
Minoxidil 5%
Nizoral shampoo
Spironolactone
Tricomin Hair Therapy

I'd use most or all of the above for about 1 year - and if you're not happy with the results, then bite the finasteride bullet.

Thanks guys. Hair tommorow -I don't know how willing I'd be to risk another year of hair loss though. If the risks are only 2% then i think I'd rather,as you say 'bite the bullet'. My hair loss is kinda at the precipitous point whereby to lose any more would be noticable and I'm really determined not to lose more, even at the risk of a few monthes of lost libido. Cost is also a prohibitive issue for me and PROSCAR is dirt cheap.

Is there an independent site anywhere that gives percentage sucsess rates for the competing brands?

And lastly if I am to get PROSCAR am I best also getting Nizoral as a DHT blocker?

If you're determined to go on finasteride - then adding nizoral 2% and minoxidil 5% are also good ideas - welcome to the Big 3.

I feel you bro!! i am almost 22 and ive been thinning since 19...do something now!! i wish i did when it started.... i went on propecia and it seems to have slowed the loss down a ton!!(on for a week so far) makes me feel better about it but also i havnt expierienced any side effects at all (got laid last night) so i still have normal libido...i noticed at first though that you here all the side effects then you start taking it and you look at your dick and you think it is being effected but i learned it was all in my head!! start on it and after a week pop in a porno or something and see if you could rub one out!!! sorry to be so blunt but you gotta do what you gotta do.... if i were you i would start on propecia and nizoral shampoo and see what it does for you!! if you are not bald yet or not thst thin do not start minoxidil....(thats my opinion)

I care about hair Tl1000R, not about jacking off. I had sex with two 18 year old college girls last night, Im 30, losing my hair since 17 and Im growing back TONS after 3 mos. So it doesn't matter if you 'catch it early!' Bam!!

I will not take finasteride in such a young age if I were you. You have to know some facts like: if you are taking the pill for like several years and it will lose the effect eventually. I have read the article and the effect of finasteride is like 5 years, then start decreasing( I have to confirm about that). Beside, if your liver is not good, ask your doctor's advice before taking finasteride.

Have you check with derm yet? do you know what's the reason to cause your hairloss?( sometimes, stress is also the reason for hairlose instead of MBP. There is no reason for taking finasteride if you are not MBP type of hairloss)

It is just my advice, and I do recommand you to check with consultant first before you are doing these things.
