Lately I feel like my scalp is in a bad condition. It's very dry and there so now and then red spots/pimples will pop up. They usually disappear after a few days. Anyway, I don't wanna risk losing extra hair because of my scalp being in a bad state.
Could it be a reaction to minoxidil? I only use it once a day, for 6.5 months now. Or is finasteride known for this? Also 6.5 months on that.

I have had it and it was a mildly allergic reaction to a certain shampoo.
I would not worry. I doubt it is a reaction to finasteride; more possible, to minoxidil or, better, to shampoo.
However this is one of those cases in which a derm really is needed.

Well I use a baby shampoo, which is very mild of course. So I doubt it's that. I've used minoxidil for my beard in the past and that also caused irritated skin. I'll wait a couple weeks to see what happens.

It could be ingrown hair. You have to be careful about that.

That can actually destroy hair around it, on the scalp.

One time I used Clearasil on one, and I got ingrown hair. It took some of my DHT resistant hair around my nape off, permanently.

There's an nih link, I believe, if you want me to get it for you.

I also got those on finasteride/minoxidil along with dry flaky scalp..what I do now is use 1%keto shampoo daily. I apply immediately once in shower and leave in while I finish the rest of my business in there..before rinsing out I have a stiff bristled brush and brush my scalp and hair to scrub scalp of any flakes and such..since this regemine my scalp never felt better.

Seems like you had seborrheic dermatitis or acne all along. I have posted threads about this but few people have responded.

Do you think your hair loss and scalp acne are related?

I really don't know. I feel like if my scalp is in a bad condition = losing more hair. but idk. There are a lot of dirty people out there with perfect hair.

Get a decent shampoo with piroctone olamine in it, solved all my scalp problems and I have not looked backed since.
