Overcompensation after quitting propecia (rare case)

Hi, I am 26 and am experiencing massive shedding specially on temples. I took propecia (on april) for 10 days because my doctor prescribed it due to an increased shedding (she said that it was a precaution measure). Two days after taking this drug, I had some bad reactions (tingling and cold hands, mild testicular pain and reduction of libido) so I quit propecia (and this side effects ended).

However, since mid june (without propecia), I have different side effects (increase sebum, increase hair loss, vellus and hairs like black dots are falling off my scalp, more vellus on legs, etc). I believe is overcompensation due to propecia.

I have seen 2 dermatologist and 3 endocrinologist. They say it is impossible to have this reaction due to propecia (specially because I took it just 10 days). My blood results however show that my DHEA is high (370, where the normal range is up to 300), a my DHT is also high (my results: 119ng/dL., normal range: 25-99 ng/dL.) I do not know my previous DHT levels (before propecia) but the reaction has been radical, so I guess my former normal levels were not the same as the levels I have now.

The only test I made before taking propecia was PSA (0.546), now my PSA is (0.647). Not too different, but I believe gives some light the fact of an overcompensation after quitting propecia.

I would like to know if (without any medication) the body will come back to the normal DHT levels, (in other words, if this overcompensation will be reduced). IF someone out there has experienced this, PLEASE let me know your actual situation, what did you do, if the shedding and sebum were reduced (and if so, after how much time). THANKS a LOT

Bro, I seriously think you are about to die. But for real... you went to 5 specialists they all said it wasn't true. So you decide to consult a bunch a random ppl on a forum that probably don't kknow what they are talking about. If that your body did react to propecia that fast (10 days), it will probably revert just as fast.

The thing is that: i took propecia in april, this side effects appeared in june and persist until now (august). I believe it has pass quite enough time to revert o at least to reduce the effects, (my DHT test was just a week ago and it is above normal range)

they are correct. You lowered your DHT levels slightly for just over a week and you think it caused all that?

I don't know why on earth you stopped Propecia. Low libido is common when you first start, and was likely caused by your worrying that you would get side effects, so it probably wasn't real anyway

As a matter of fact I believe that due to my allergyc reaction on just a few days, my body try to compensate the reduction of DHT producing more. Since I quit propecia, this overproduction increased my levels of DHT.

My side effects on propecia was not only low libido, was testicular pain and itching hands and feet (some mild swelling as well)

Dude...do you realize how ridiculous this sounds. To make more DHT your body would have to produce more Testosterone, which would give you MORE libdo, not less. Itching hands and feet are also unrelated to Propecia. Ball ache is extremely common, and will go away in 3-6 days.

Did you ever stop to think that perhaps the REASON you're balding in the first place is because you have high levels of DHT? How about if you chew on that and think about it instead of claiming (despite ALSO saying the you HAVE NO OTHER BASELINE NUMBERS) that your "dht was normal before".

You are looking to be scared of something because you went into this worried about side effects in the first place. Your brain found something, and you freaked out. That's all that happened.

Your post is so silly it reminds me of all the nutty posts at certain anti-Propecia sites. And for that reason, I doubt you had any side effects at all. Even while on Propecia. You are just going to go bald at a faster rate now. Good luck.
