Overall Hair Quality

Hey guys,

While I hate my overall thinning and recession in the front, probably what bothers me the most is that my hair quality everywhere has gotten so much worse over the past 6 months when I noticed my male pattern baldness. Is this due to the miniaturization of the follicles and therefore they come back less pigmented and just wispy looking?

Is there anything that can be done to improve the hair quality?

I've been on propecia for nearly 4 months now and while my loss is slowing down my hair is thinner than ever and receded. Can I expect the propecia to improve my hair quality by producing hairs that are not afflicted by DHT?

Thanks guys. I think I could handle some recession if the rest of my hair looked healthy...

Given your description of your situation, I can speak from my own personal experience and that is ...you might benefit from LLLT. I sure can relate with you when you talk about the "wispy" hairs! EEESH! That's all I had before I started treatment. It was really driving me nuts as my hair was losing it's bounce, quality and overall health. My hair was dry, fly-away and wispy.

itsjustaphase, i wouldn't throw down $650 on the laser comb if i were you. I would stick with the proven treatments first like Minoxidil and Nizoral 2%. The finasteride will work to reduce DHT and the minoxidil will work to re-grow your hairs thicker. Just remember though you have to use minoxidil forever to keep whatever minoxidil helped you get, but after a 2 or 3 years you only have to use it once per day for maintenance which isn't so bad. Also 4 months on finasteride is not enough to see any results really other than your hairloss stopping/slowing down. You hairs have to cycle/recycle every 3 months or so, but each time they recycle they should grow thicker. I would give it 1 year on finasteride then evaluate your results.

I would consider the lasercomb! It has worked great for me. The quality and thickness of my hair have improved greatly. Your not wasting your money on the comb. I think it was worth every penny. Stax has had no luck with the comb so he continues to dismiss it as a promising product. At least you could try it for 5 months and if it does not work send it back. I think it is really worth a shot. Stax quit saying that it is not worth using. It's getting f'ing annoying!

I wouldn't go for any type of "laser therapy" just yet. You need to give your Regimen more time. After that I'd go with other proven treatments first. If that doesn't work, then try the alternative methods like laser therapy.
Are you using cheap shampoo's and conditioners? If you are, Don't. Spend some money on the better salon quality products.
Are you conditioning your hair every day? if not, try it for a few weeks. You'd be suprised what this can do for your hair quality.

Viper....stax has the right to his opinion just like you do. In this post he didn't say it's not worth using. Please don't start a pissing match.

I've read many posts about people who have used it with ZERO results. Man you say you've had results with the laser comb and nothing else?
Viper mabye you dont have male pattern baldness dude and there is another issue involved. Your the only person i've ever heard of using the comb with that kind of success.
