Over 4 years on finasteride and all is good

Hi,

I just thought I would share my story, albeit a pretty straightforward one.

I started taking Finpecia around four years ago, when I started to feel a tingle on my scalp and noticed hair loss at the crown. I had been receding at the front for a few years previous to that, but it didn't bother me too much. I hadn't expected it to go at the crown too though. So I decided to at least try Finpecia.

The first two weeks my sex drive went down quite a bit, but after that it came back to full strength.
For around 6 months I had to go to pee in the night maybe a couple of times each night, which was new for me. After around 6 months that stopped and I don't need to pee at all overnight (I am 40)

For a long time, that was it. No problems or side effects. The tingles stopped after the first week, and at around year one the hair started to grow back at the crown, and even a marked improvement at the front too!

I took nizoral for a while too, but stopped and I didn't notice any difference either way with that.

Now, at year four, I have more hair at 40 than I did at 30, and it is longer than I have ever dared to grow it, and its quite thick, which is great! :)

The reason I decided to share my story though, is that in the last couple of years I have noticed my penis length and girth when flaccid to be considerably less than it was. I had already decided to accept this side effect, as it had no bearing on my erect size or shape. But a few weeks ago I tried taking zinc picolinate 25mg each night along with the Finpecia. The next day my morning erection was stronger. Its even possible that I had stopped having morning erections without really noticing, as it felt somehow quite strange and new. Since then my flaccid penis size has returned to the way it was pre-finasteride. I really didnt expect this, and I can honestly say it isn't in my head. The difference is like boy penis / man penis.

I know a lot of people here dismiss the penis shrinking issue as nonsense or a purely mental thing. I think in the first couple of years I thought the same. But without doubt as time went on my penis changed, but it was such a gradual drawn out process that it isnt as alarming as you might think.

So, make of it what you like, I am not here to defend this claim, or to say that your penis will react in the same way. I just wanted to say that finpecia has been superb for me, and given me so much. And that if you do notice a change in size etc, why not just try the zinc and see if it helps you.

Im sorry I dont have many hair pics. I used to keep some when I started getting changes in the hair, but then over time it stopped being a big deal and I just got on with life. I dont think I have those pics anymore. So I have just added one recent pic of my hair from the front. If anyone is really bothered I could add one of the crown, but its just a normal crown of hair. tutor.jpg

Cheers

Thanks for posting your story!!! It makes a change from people only posting when they have problems.

your ED problems might just be from being over age 40

I wouldn't have described it as ED. I may be 40, but my erections have been fine before and during Finpecia. The changes were 1) less 'morning wood' and 2) smaller, thinner flaccid penis.
Both have been resolved by a simple addition of zinc taken at the same time as Finpecia. I have to say I am (happily) astounded at the difference just adding zinc has made. I just hope it doesn't have any effect on the main use of Finpecia, i.e. keeping my hair!
