Original Hair Density Factor

Some people naturally have thinner hair than others. This is based on the density of hair follicles on the scalp I assume. Now with factors like hairstyle and color equal, there is a certain point at which the scalp becomes noticible and we realize our hair is thinning. Lets call that hair density 5 out of 10 (purely arbitrary for the purposes of this question).

If a man with an original hair density of 10 out of 10 begins to thin, he would lose half his density before it becomes noticible. If a man with an original hair density of 7 out of 10 begins to thin, he obviously doesn't have to shed/minaturize as much hair before he has a cosmetic problem.

Now let's say these two men both go on the big 3. The guy with orginally thicker hair has a lot more follicles to work with, so it seems that he will be FAR more likely to get over the cosmetic hurdle and make a "full recovery", or at least be considered "a good responder".

I understand that male pattern baldness has a lot of variables, but this seems huge. Maybe it's obvious so no one mentions it, but it seems theoretically to be about the biggest predictable variable to success I can imagine.

Whatta ya think?

I do agree, alot of people just don't realize that they had that little hair to begin with (not saying little as in balding, but little compared to guys with really really thick hair). Some are out looking for unrealistic gains, hair they never had to begin with, and therefore think they aren't responding as well as they should. I find that once you start to notice you 're thinning, you become far more critical of scalp showing too, so you're more likely to think you have less coverage, when really that always happened to some degree.

I agree to ....i also think a similar subject would be how blondes have way more hair then brown or black haired men.Blondes have alittle more time for people to notice there thinning if they have more hair follicles on their head.I think the opposite is true for thinned hair men to start out with...if you have thin hair but your not thinning...it still looks like you could be and if you do start to go bald then.....chances are it will take less time for people too notice your handicap.

Yeah the thinning would definitely be noticible earlier on in hair loss for someone with orginally thin hair.

But people often wonder if they are going to regrow hair and not look like they're thinning anymore. It seems like because the person with originally thick hair has many more follicles, the amount of follicles that the big 3 help out (let's face it, not all of them for regrowth) could be about the same portion, and the guy with originally thick hair would be considered "a good responder."

Seems like a big factor- everyone think so?
