I'm really glad that I found this forum. Im 25 yrs old and began thinning about 3 years ago. Actually, 4 years ago would be more accurate, but it didn't become noticable to me until 3 yrs ago. It became noticable to others in the last year or two. I have generally thick, curly hair, but my hairline has receded quite a bit. In the last year, the recession began to "curl" up towards the top of my head. The vertex is still fine, but the front is in pretty bad shape. Frankly, I could live with a hairline that showed some recession, but the thinning at the top/front part of my hair is what really freaked me out. On May 5th I began taking propeia 1mg. So far (it's only been a week) I've noticed no adverse effects. I'm sure it is coincidental, but in the last couple of days I have completly stopped shedding. I know that this stuff takes months to become active in the scalp, but there is no denying that I hardly see ANY hair coming out in the shower. I am aware that this might be part of my natural shedding cycle. Also, I've noticed that my facial hair is growing MUCH slower than usual. Anyone else experienced this? In any case, I am going to add minoxidil 5% and nizoral (alternating with nioxin) and see how things go. It's so exciting to see the results that many of you have gotten with the "big 3" and I hope that I will be able to join the club! I will keep you all updated.

Looks like you're on the right track man. You're doing everything right. Now all thats left to do is stick to you regimen and wait it out! Stick with everything for atleast a year to see how its going. Hopefully you'll get good results more around 6 months or a little sooner but its possible to get results a lot later than that. So just stick with it and you should be fine.

Goodluck

Fallout boy (haha, I love the simpsons too), I notice that you only use finasteride and no minoxidil. How have your results been? Also, did you notice your facial hair growth slowing?

Hey dude, your reg is similar to mine. I just started recently on Propecia like you, which has only been like a week and a half now. I haven't noticed anything with my facial hair growing slower, it seems all the same so far, but it is still so early on in treatment that I'll have to keep looking.

Awesome man. Let's keep eachother informed on the progress, since we both started propecia at the same time. I'm going to start MSM today also, and maybe copper...

Well, it's been one month, so I thought I would write an update.

So far, NO side effects from the propecia. The slowing of my facial hair growth seemed to stop (who knows? maybe it WAS all in my head). I also mentioned that I had just coincidentally stopped shedding when I began the meds. Well, the shedding has gone back to the usual.

Now, for the good news. I do notice some hair growth around my hairline and temples. Of course, at this point it is so insignificant that I have to look really close up to see it. On the other hand, those tiny little hairs might have always been there and I just never looked close enough to see them.

The minoxidil 5% makes my skin flake like mad (is that the skin peeling, or minoxidil flaking off???) It's pretty difficult to comb my hair with all of that oily stuff on my scalp, but I'm willing to deal with it for the results. I figure that if I regrow hair, I might switch to just using it at night for maintnence. Do you guys think that will work?

So there it is... one month down! You guys that started around the same time... how are you doing?

well hope it doesnt bother you that i m posting in your thread.....
so its been one month (apparently a little more than 1 month) for me too : Here s what i noticed

First of all no sides of the propecia*cheer*
second: i know very well that propecia takes at least 3 months to work but i swear to god i m having less hair in the shower sink that i used to have about 1 month ago... Even if i run my fingers through my hair, about 1 month ago i would have had 20 hairs in my hand ... now its about 2 or 3 ....
oh well still i dont want to cheer and get excited about this too early.as above said it may be part of my hair cycle process...

and last but not least i think i m spotting some tiny black and uncolored hair where my hairline used to be (my hairline looks kind of messed up :( )
thx for listening ... cheers ;)

Ok, here is the official 2 month update.

Propecia 1mg/day
minoxidil 5% twice a day
nizoral 2% every other day

So far I have gotten fantastic results! The dark peach fuzz that was forming along my hairline is starting to become thick. If things continue like this, I am going to start posting in the success forum!!
