Only just started using rogaine, jumping on finasteride, can I stop rogaine or is it too late

Hi - I just started finasteride, and have been using rogaine for about 5-7 days.

I'll like to stop rogaine because I don't want to add to my regimen (making it even more of a hassle).

Instead, I'll like to start with rogaine by itself and see if it will help me with my regrowth. I'll then decide in the future (6-12 months) whether I need to add minoxidil again to my regimen.

Is it too late to stop? I heard of devastating issues that occur once you stop rogaine, however I have only spent 5-7 days on it.

You'll be fine. But most people who are serious about stabilizing their hair loss use both minoxidil and finasteride.
Its like adding turbo boost to your minoxidil

Thanks for the responses. I'm just hoping to spend a little less per month to save on money. If finasteride is doing it's job, then I'll hold off using minoxidil until I really need it.

I'll be supplementing my regimen with nizoral 1% and tricomin spray. Anyone else adding anything to their regimen for the crown/hairline?

You can add biotin supplements as well.

I tried, unfortunately I'm one of those who respond terribly to biotin and I started having terrible acne.

Do you guys have finasteride as a part of your regimen?

I get my necessary biotin, silica, vitamins from mangold, cucumber and celery.
Stopped using supplements, since supplements docent have the vital co-factors, co-enzymes as natural resources have, for your body to understand how digest them.
Therefore many experiences pimples, since your body docent now how to dissolve it into the system.

You can buy vitamins and minerals which are extracted from whole foods, and they do have all the necessary co-factors and enzymes:

As soon as you break a leave, the oxidation progress begins, and to gain the most you have digest it directly.
I understand how the pill, powder progress works but still you loose enormous amounts of vital nutrients during the progress.

But if you don´t have the patience of slow juicing them, i would recommend the powder form saluted in water for better body absorption.
The pill form goes out the other way without significant notification.

LOL I have no idea why that made me laugh so much. But yeah, I went into panic mode and used it for 5-7 days. Now I'm going to just stop and hop on finasteride. I noticed zero increase in density or hair count in the crown (as expected since I only used for 5-7 days).

don't worry we are joking, quitting minoxidil after a week will not harm your hair at all. I took the horrid stuff for 4 months before deciding to quit, in that time I had 0 regrowth and shed about 5 times as much hair as usual, when I got off it the hair fall went back to normal levels, I started minoxidil over finasteride/dutasteride even though I was only NW1.5, you should never start minoxidil before the AA. Now I am NW2 mostly down to the ****ing minoxidil. Luckily I am regrowing it slowly.

Kermit:

Both minoxidil and finasteride are drugs that have positive and negative aspects, and work differently for different people. I personally went on min a few months ago, and only min. It's working very well, with no sides whatsoever, and I'm glad I'm not taking finasteride. Maybe that'll change at some point. But the point is, looking at it objectively, there is no miracle drug with no possible sides, very much including finasteride. One only needs to read comments here in various threads, or examine the lawsuits against it, to realize that.

I didn't want to be dependent on minoxidil. Most people actually start with finasteride, see if they have sides, and if they do ... they stop and use minoxidil. However, minoxidil is only temporary and doesn't stop or slow down male pattern baldness at all.

My attack plan is -> finasteride -> finasteride + minoxidil if I need it.

Are you sure about that? minoxidil is sold without a prescription in drug stores everywhere. Including in many countries outside the US. Both branded and generic. It's effective and has no side effects for many people. Finasteride requires a prescription and a lot of people refuse to take it. You're saying that the majority of people "actually" take finasteride before minoxidil?

Not at all criticising your attack plan, but keeping it real as regards how many people take minoxidil vs. finasteride.
