Had this discussion with some friends this weekend and I preface this saying they were all girls.

They don't care of a guys is bald or balding as long as he looks healthy and doesn't deceive them by wearing a hat in the profile pics.

This came up because I am using online dating and this one girl only sent me her face pic and when we met....well...lets just say she was a women of size.

Chicks tend to say nice things like that to make you feel better, but in reality it doesn't happen. I reckon a lot of people do it sub-conciously, who knows?

eh.....I dunno....my friends and I are all pretty open about everything. I would be surprised by them not being sincere.

I find women are pretty honest about what they like and don't like and what they said to Cassin sounds about right.

Cassin's a NW3 so not exactly bald to the point where they would be feeling sorry for him.

For the majority of women, baldness is not a deal breaker.

A little analogy if you please. A sexy women with big tits, always nice, I like, you like, everyone likes. Sexy woman with no tits....who cares, still a sexy woman.

So you're saying if she just had nipples?
Man that's be weird, kind of like a guy who had no hair at all... hmmm

I don't know, it's different for everyone.

Girl's I've spoken to have said they don't care about baldness (I didn't look balding, so it's not like they were telling me that to make me feel better, and we're all very open).

They do care about wigs/combovers etc. though.

Most men do not understand what women want. This whole thread goes to prove that.

There is a documentary on the male beauty on Ch4, British TV, and last week a group of women were comparing 4-5 guys. Most of the women said they didn't feel comfortable with the best looking guy. I guess women don't really feel comfortable with extremely vain guys, a bit like guys feeling inadequate around 10/10 (CCS scale).

The most interesting thing for me was that women found lots of faults with what I thought was the "average" man. The point raised by the average man's wife was that she didn't fall for his body, but for the man himself.

We should be working towards a complete package rather then just the looks. A hard working, yet relaxed guy is probably the perfect man. Meaning, he works hard enough to make something out of his life, but he also knows how to have fun and entertain people around him.

One girl told me girls rarely go for the best looking guy as they feel he'll be too hard to keep, and get too jealous having other girls looking at him.

I know one girl that sleeps around a bit. She's actually pretty decent looking, but she always goes for average or slightly below average guys. Once she told me that she finds it much easier to keep the average guys.

Exactly...!!!!!

Plus we have a very open dialogue between all of us...some of the stuff we know about each other...to suddenly get shallow at my receded hairline would not make sense.

If they don't care about baldness/balding, then what's wrong with wearing a hat?

It shows that you have a lack of confidence in yourself. If you're trying to cover up your baldness, to some people it would indicate a lack of self-esteem in yourself. Wearing a hat, in a way, is a bit like saying: "AAhhhh! I'm so scared of people judging me and laughing at my hair that I need to cover it up! Please don't notice it!"

A confident person is someone who accepts themself and carries themself well, and doesn't give a sh*t about what other people think.

When you obsess on baldness, you begin to act and respond in a different way. Like I've said before, if you think that balding is a major problem for you, then it will become a major problem for you.

Its like anything else when it comes to that...its pretty obvious when you're hiding something. You need to show what you really look like.

The only reason I even brought this up was because I have seen a few dozen threads on this over the years.
