My left side of my hair line seem a lot thinner and higher than my right side which is near perfect. I use 5% minoxidil on my hairline but worry that it is makin things worse.

Anyone else have this problem??

I'm not on minoxidil, but my right temple has receded some and my left is perfect. I think this is the case with a lot of guys.

This is completely normal with male pattern baldness. There are actually quite a few threads that have been brought up about this subject and it seems that most experience some sort of uneven hair loss. Hope this helps :)

Why do you think minoxidil is making your hairline worse?

i dont use minoxidil and the right side of my hairline/temple area is notably worse than my left. interestingly, i also get less acne on the right hand side of my face more so than my left.

my right side has been way more receded then my left side for years... if both sides wee like my left side id barely have a problem (besides the vertex ofcourse)

I have the same problem. My left side has always been a preview of what my right side will become.

wow i feel you.

wait this means that i have male pattern baldness? i don't understand because noone in my family for the past 4 generations (that's all i know about) has/had male pattern baldness

yeah my dad, uncle, and grandfather have some thinning going on but their hairlines and overall thickness is normal.

Same here, left side is receeding rather quickly with lots of vellus hairs while the right side is still looking pretty decent.

Hey, everysixseconds, at the bottom of your posts it says that .5mg of dutasteride increases testosterone by 104%. Is that really true and if it is it seems like kind of a big deal?

it could be. it has been proven that testosterone can cause damage to susceptible follicles that were previously under attack from DHT. so theoretically, even though you inhibit more scalp DHT with dutasteride (55% compared with finasteride's 38%) the results can often be the same, or possibly worse because finasteride only increase test levels by ~40%, whereas dutasteride does so by 104%. so in effect, test could be doing the damage instead of DHT.

hope it made sense.

i take 1mg of DUTAS (which i have a strong suspicion is fake) a day, because it is capably of inhibiting more scalp dht hopefully around ~65% (this is unconfirmed). at a dose of 2.5mg, dutasteride increases test levels by 154%, so you can see, theres more increase from 0 - 0.5mg of dutasteride than there is for 0.5 - 2.5mg dutasteride. so, taking more could inhibit more DHT, but even though test levels rise significantly, DHT levels would drop dramatically to ensure hairloss ceased.

its all about affinity for androgen recpetors.
