Just an odd observation. Random.

I live in Chicago, and see quite a few homeless, elderly white men who look as if they've
had a hard enough life.

Telltale signs of alcoholism. Red faces, broken veins.

90 percent of these guys have MEGA hairlines. The faces of a 90 year old
and the hair of a 20 year old.

Am I dreaming up some correlation to alcohol and hair?

This has already been discussed in other threads. Actually, it seems that homeless people are rarely bald.
And a study of homozygous twins showed that the twin who drank alcohol had more hair than the one who did not.

Amazing.

I was sure there is some correlation.

Perhaps there is another correlated life factor

haha, it's pretty funny because I, too, have observed such homeless people who had very nice hair. I would love to know what kind of shampoo they use, lol. Anyway, you're right about alcoholism. It really is a very depressing thing that ruins people's lives, health, and families. This should already be an example of what state you should not take your life to. If a person feels they have a problem with alcoholism, it's a good idea to go to a specialist, like https://fherehab.com/location/alcohol-rehab-deerfield.

Alcohol raising estrogen.

Lack of chemicals from shampoo.

And (probably maily) oxygen in fresh air naturally cleansing the scalp and keeping it free from oils and build up. The way we are meant to be. Look at native Americans (and other tribes accross the globe) and Eskimos for example, outside all the time and constant fresh air on scalp, next to zero hairloss.

Just my best guess anyway.

I think it has something to do with not having the stress of a job or having to pay bills. For example my son is 27 and plays Xbox all day, doesn’t work or pay bills. Great hair.

Honestly guys ... I think there is nothing to see here.

A lot of homeless guys have long, crazy hair that makes it stand out. A lot of homeless guys are also bald.

Their hair gets "dreadlocked" together so years of shedding is "tied-up" with their current hair. I've seen homeless guys with seemingly crazy hair get a hair cut, and afterwards it looks like any other guy's hair.

Hair loss is caused by male hormones, period. It's not caused by shampoo or cutting your hair or anything else. I'm 99.9% positive that if you did a scientific analysis, homeless men would have exactly the same level of hairloss as the general population.

I have a theory. If you were a full head you’d be out partying, drinking, picking up girls, that’s what those homeless guys were when they were young. Unfortunately some just kept on drinking. Balding twats hide inside and barely socialise.

And there's also people my age in the Olympics. It's mainly genetics at play can't be comparing ourselves to the 0.00000001%.

That's not true either. I'm bald and I'm a massive chad.

I don't think alcoholism has anything to do with hair. It's more a lack of grooming. These people haven't had their hair cut in a very long time. That's why they have such long hair and beards.
But in general, I've seen a lot of bald alcoholics, so it definitely has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the problem of alcoholism is a very pressing one in our society. I had a colleague at work who looked decent, and no one even guessed that he was an alcoholic. One day he disappeared, and after a while, we found out that he was in the hospital. Then he started going to a support group at theluckiestclub.com
