hi, ive recently started to notice some very very small hairs about a half centimeter forward from my hairline. i was wondering if anyone knew at what point a hair stopped miniaturising and just gave up - how long do they get? cause these hairs are all aboutttt - i dunno, 2mm long or something like that? so very short. and i was just wondering if i could expect these hairs to keep growing and signify the development of more hair or if i need to be worried.

also, im sorry, i know its probably pretty difficult without pics but i dont have a camera so :(

Hair growth isn't linear; it goes in phases.

It grows up, withers and falls out, then sits down in the follicle for a while.

With hair loss, the process tends to go on faster, and with each regrowth coming back weaker than before. When your hair's gone, it's usually not because it's fallen out. It's because it's just retracted back into the follicle and can't even penetrate the skin.

Ordinarily, vellus hairs of the kind you're seeing are those which are about to breathe their last life. Obviously, if you went from no hair to vellus, though, the process could be in reverse (if you were a good responder to finasteride, for instance).

hmm, thats the problem - im not sure if these are new hairs growing or i just only started paying that much attention when they were at this stage. urghh i really wanna get on finasteride and maybe rogaine but i dont have a job at the moment and cant afford it :( god i hate this

just on a small note though ive read your story boondock and a lot of your posts, and although the pictures are down now i got the general jist of it. how are things going? hope its all ok

If you're not on treatments, these hairs will be ones that you're losing, not growing.

How are things going for me? Not bad. I'm a bit jaded with the whole hair loss thing and can't really be arsed any more. I still visit this forum out of habit, but I've sort of decided it's populated by depressed obsessives who blame hair for all their problems in life and can't see a way out of that. I'm trying to break my habit here because I was becoming one of them.

i think everyone here has phases like that, its just how much they let it get to them and how often they occur. but then, i cant speak for everyone so you can probably ignore that sentence as null and void.

at the moment im only on nizoral 2% (have been for-- probably about 5 or 6 months) and til i can get me a job thats how itll stay.
easy boon x

What does Nizoral 2% do - just clear away the scalp Sebum which has the DHT in it?

Sorry - new to this.

there is some very sketchy evidence that it might impact DHT but basically it just keeps your scalp healthy and makes your hair look more full by drying it out.

it really does not do sh*t for hair loss. trust me i used it alone for 5+ years for dandruff and lost plenty of hair while doing so.
