ive heard a lot of different opinions on what can be done for a reversal of a strip hair transplant. i know it is likely impossible without marks, but is there ANYTHING that can be done to the scars in the back so i can just bic my damn head? Im steady losing and wish id done it in the first place, but i didnt. so please anyone. has anyone done this? i am desperate for an answer.

FUT (even with a trychophytic closure), FUE, BHT...whatever it is...leaves scarring. It just depends on the size (legth and width) of the scar you are talking about.

Even the smallest FUE punch leaves a scar that can be seen when the area is "bic'ed." Even the finest of lines from a trycho closure will be seen when "bic'ed."

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I don't foresee a time when you can bic your head without a scar showing.

Successful trichophytic closures and small FUE sites will be camoflaged by buzz cuts as close as a #2 or even #1. It depends on the skill of the physician and the healing characteristics of the patient.

not me,

Great response in your post. I just want to add that while you may have potential to improve your scar, you will never be able to "reverse" the scarring to the point of never showing.

Youngndumb,

Long term application of copper peptides and emu oil can help the skin somewhat, but when you cut skin...........................fibrosis happens. If youre a pale guy, it may not be as bad. Ive seen pictures of black men whove had transplant repairs before, and its like a thousand little knife cuts against brown skin. White dots REALLY show up on a dark background.

If the area is "smooth" and doesnt need dermabrasion to smooth it, you can get with a plastic surgeon and see about "permanent makeup" which is just a skin-colored tatoo.

Youve never stated just how many plugs you have. If its really alot.....................youre in kind of a spot man. Post pics of your head on here and you might be able to get a better assesment. Ive seen pics of a guy once on hairsite, that got a hairline done all the way up front and went NW7 unbelievably fast. He must have had terrible hair genes because he had a 70 year olds hair in his early twenties. I mean just cueballed. He had three rows of small (pretty well done actualy) single through triple hair implants, tightly packed. But his donor hair quality was awful. Thats why Ive made the point over and over that if you started to bald before 30 on its own, no herbal help.........no propecia, minoxidil, nizoral etc.......its proboably a safer alternative to buzz.

Unlike what these other two think about me, believe it or not I think some men are great candidates for a good surgeon. Richard Nixon, the ex-president would have been a terrific candidate. I proboably am, but Im just going to treat it and wait for ICX phase two tests. If they dont look promising, I'll get out the few remaining plugs I have, fill in my small donor scar and forget about it. If phase two looks really promising, I'll proboably get a good hairline done and get cloned hair if I ever need it. Keep that in mind about me, Im no radical, just pragmatic about what can happen over 30 years time if no Curis, cloning, gene cure comes about. A disaster can happen.

You see Michael Barry? Now in this post you just made, you are starting to tell "both sides". The truth. The fact that there are poor candidates for surgical hair restoration AND good candidates like myself. Not everyone is destined for the advanced classes of hairloss. Not everyone is a crook. There are some decent hard-working honest people in this field.

And whether you believe it or not, I have both witnessed and heard of a number of reputable hair transplant surgeons turn patients away because they were poor candidates, too young for surgery, issues with current health status, and other possible reasons.

What you don't see day-to-day like I do are all of the happy satisfied patients who experienced great success with their hair transplant procedures. And not all of them have goals of complete coverage because the "educated patient" knows that is rarely possible and so they work within their limitations. I also hear of various successes with repair patients because of FUE technology, BH donor, etc, etc. They now have more potential with these new technologies that they could never have realized before. There has been more technological progress and advancement in surgical hair restoration methods in the last five years, than the entire four decades preceding it.

Remember, patients goal's vary from one individual to the other. Not everyone wants lots of density, especially guys over 40. What all hair transplant patients DO WANT is an improvement in the "quality of their lives" and even "freedom" from wearing a cap all of the time.

I would also like to announce to all that I will be getting my fourth hair transplant sometime this year. I am 51 with good hair characteristics (medium coarse) including a slight wave. I have been on finasteride for eight years now with great efficacy. I started taking finasteride even before Propecia was approved by the FDA for treating hairloss. The effects of male pattern baldness started showing on me at age twenty-five so by the time I reached thirty, I was wearing hair systems which I wore for eleven whole years. I hated it!

I was a Norwood 5 when I started surgery and I have received 4418 grafts to date comprised in my prior three procedures. I split up my procedures that way because of affordability issues. But now it's been just over four years since my last hair transplant and I'm going to add some density. My procedure will be filmed and I will also be putting up lots of pics when I have it done. :D

Just another success story! :hairy:
