hey guys i've finally started my treatment. 1 ml minoxidil 2% applied twice daily, switching off between T-Gel and Nizoral 1%(non prescription) every other day, and drinking green tea.

i have a few questions... can anyone please help me?

ok firstoff with the minoxidil. i use the dropper and i just drop it on the spots on my head that have thinner hair than the rest. i tried putting it on my hairline but a lot of it kept dripping off. is this ok? will it help regrow my hair on my hairline even though a lot of it dripped off? can somebody PLEASE Explain the proper steps of applying the minoxidil?

also, how long should you wait for the minoxidil to dry before putting on gel, conditioner, wax etc...?

T-Gel and Nizoral 1%(got nonprescrip cuz it was off the counter easy to get)... i've just started to use both and i must say they are freakin great! i used to shed around 20 hairs in the shower and around another 35-40 after i came out of the shower and brushed... the past 2 days have been great, only around 10 hairs shed in the shower+after brushing! :D

i just started on thursday with T-Gel and i plan on switching off every other day with Nizoral. is it ok if i use T-Gel and Nizoral more than 3 times a week? also, would it screw up my treatment process if i added in a cheaper mild shampoo along with Nizoral and T-Gel?

so far it's only been 2 days, way too soon to recognize any hair growth/thickening but i must say the shedding # dropped like crazy! :p

also with all these posts and articles about DHT and how it leads to hair-loss, i've decided to drink greentea once a day or maybe even twice. (supposedly lowers DHT Lvls).<= is this true?

i hope my treatment will work well even without proscar( too young to use this ). thanks to everyone who took the time to read this post!

- peace

Congrats on the regimen.

If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend the minoxidil applicator sold at regrow.com (no, i dont work for them). I use 1 mL on the crown as directed and rub it in with the applicator. I then use 1 mL on the hairline and rub that in with the applicator. It is textured so it rubs it into the scalp without getting TOO much into your hair. It also helps keep your hands from getting all gooey. 5% is pretty greasy.

Adding another shampoo into your Nizoral and T-gel regimen should be fine. I would suggest a moisturizing one that is pretty easy on the hair. That, or you could just go for L'oreal V've thickening shampoo and conditioners. This stuff works pretty good for the price.

I think you are on the right track. It is usually wise to start one medication at a time so you know what is working, so kudos to you for holding of on the Finasteride. Eventually, if you want, you can bump up to 5% minoxidil at night and keep the 2% for in the morning. This gives you the added benefit of 5% without having to wait half an hour for it to dry on your head while you get ready for work/school.

thanks!

thanks man! yea the reason i'm laying off the finasteride. is because i'm only 17 heh. wait so when you say that you use 1 ml on the crown and 1 ml on the hairline, does that mean you use 2 ml twice daily? it says not to use more than 1 ml twice daily.. or is it safe? thanks for the help.

Yes, I use 2 mL twice daily of 5%. I am only 3.5 months out from a hair transplant so i still wear a ball cap all the time and will until the 6 month mark or so. This enables me to not care about the greasiniess of the 5% in the morning. Though Minoxidil isnt proven to work on the hairline, I started using it there for the possibility that it may speed up the newly implanted grafts, but I see no reason to stop anytime soon since it is so cheap. I get the generic 5% at Wal-Mart for $27 for 3 bottles. I go through about 2 bottles a month since I use twice as much. Hope this helps.
