Hey guys, so I am in a very advanced stage of hair loss and probably would benefit most from a transplant. But I want to try an experiment and see if I can turn the ship around at all or halt it. I'm 39 and have been slowly losing hair for well over 10 years and a lot faster over the last 2-3 years (major life changes, and age I believe have contributed to the rapidness) I just joined these forums almost a week ago and started 5% minoxidil twice a day at the same time. I've been using Nizoral 2-3 times a week for almost a full 2 weeks. I just ordered some 5mg Fincar from a well known on-line pharmacy so will be adding that to the regimen as soon as it arrives. I will probably start small on that, like cut into 1/8ths for .625/day and work up to 1.25/day...I'm not sure yet. I went the cheap route because again I am advanced MLB , this is an experiment and don't want to waste too much $$$ for nothing if this doesn't show any results. My plan is to update every 3 months with pics and sides (if any). Here are two baseline crown pics taken this morning just after applying minoxidil so scalp and hair are wet. Amazing what different lighting and flash on or off can make your hair look so different. The first pic is in the dark with the flash from my phone on and the second is under artificial light with the flash off. My front and temples aren't as bad but they have receded/thinned so I have been applying the minoxidil to my entire scalp. I've been buzzing my head around a 2 or 3 for sometime now, thinking of bringing it down to a 1. Of course, I am not expecting miracles and any comments are welcome and advice is appreciated, thanks for reading!

I'm going to comment on a couple of things. You've lost a lot of hair so it will be a challenge to grow it back.

That being said when zooming in on your photos you still appear to have hair in balded areas and that could potentially thicken and cover up a lot of the scalp.

I would give the big 3 a shot. You most likely won't experiment sides. If I can make a big recommendation. Don't spend a lot of time thinking about hair loss or searching the internet while on the big 3. You already did that when making your decision to start it. Go about your day spending time on more important things. Maybe stop in to give a weekly, bimonthly, or monthly update on your progress.

On another note, it looks like you've got a great shaped head and will pass as having a nice looking shaved head imo. Use the money that you would otherwise spend on hair products and spend on clothes and accessories. I'm hoping someone will say the same thing for me. I have pale freckly skin, but do think my head is a good shape for being bald. Just not sure if I want to give up just yet at my young age of 29.
