I need to get a hair cut soon but im thinking of just having them trim, cut the sides and back and maybe cut the top a little bit but still keep it long.

I browsed though some photos that are recent in this week, I know im covering up the area where it is thinning but is it a bad thing to do. Ive been using Nioxin now since last week and using Nizoral 2% and was hoping that the nioxin will thicken the hair up but I havent noticed it getting thicker but I do like nioxin, makes the scalp feel good.

When im out of the shower, comb the hair back. (shows the temples and there is thinning in the back too but I think since it is long does not show as well and since im on minoxidil, Id rather keep it long cause im a little nervous about the shed that will come.

No, i think its fine to "cover up" a nw3, its only still early stages of balding its not the same as a comb over.

I don't fully understand the process yet and for my hair to become thicker, would I need to wait for the new hair to grow or the existing hair to grow out, or the other way around. The shed to occur and the new hair will become thicker.

Also, i just started fighting this last month and was using up the last of my liquid minoxidil, should I switch to the foam now asap or use up the last bottle of the liquid. I heard stories where the shed was worse by switching from the liquid to foam.

I would not call you a nw3 yet. You are closer to nw2 than 3, its only when its wet and then combed back that you see any real degree of recession. You still have loads of styling options.

this is only nw2 imo and only a receding hairlie with no crown thinning. so perhaps a Norwood 1.75

well maybe I suppose because he also seems to have receeded at the temple points (just forward of above the ears).

exactly, but that's not what i go by. i just go by that horizontal strip in front surrounded by a lot of temple recession. there are some guys like ed o'neill(actor) that keep their temple points strong after going to NW4.

I went to nw6 and mine are OK, but when I'm Norwood spotting at work I see many guys who are 1.5/2's who have thick hair on top and dont seem to be suffering from m.p.b but their points are gone, (Just a straight line down). It looks weird but noone notices it.
