Numbness of scalp?

Ever since I've been losing my hair (about 5 years now), the top of my head has been noticably numb.. I can still feel it a little in most areas but it definitely has a numb feeling to it... is this normal among male pattern baldness people or is it just something weird I've been experiencing?

Actually I experienced quite the opposite effect in that the inflammation caused the roots of my hairs to be sore and sensitive comparable to maybe a mild tooth ache.
