I've decided on a hair transplant and had two consultations, with very different opinions on numbers of grafts... First said I needed 2205 and second said I needed 5000 (both fue method)

I expected a difference but not that much! The second consultations per graft was very low but dearer overall!

I'm in the north west of the UK

Cheers

I would do 2205 (?) now and another 2500 later if the first 2205 have not stuck accurately. With a different doctor of course. I would not put 5000 grafts in one basket since your situation is not that of a "mega session" from what I can see.

Thanks Roberto.

I'm concerned that I've been offered a very low per graft raters lure me in but the grafts required have been over-estimated to bump the cost up! I doubt I'll know if I received 2000 or 5000 after the surgery!

I guess I need a 3rd opinion if I can find another clinic

Cheers

Who were the surgeons? I would go with the graft count of the more reputable one

I would go with the lower estimate. Should be enough for where you are right now. This also saves more donor for the future as your hairloss progresses.

Both estimates seem way off.

I was thinking 2000-2500 for the front

500 for crown

2200 isn't enough and 5000 is too much. I would do 3000 to 3200 if I was you.

Thank you all for your replies!

The lower estimate was given by UK hair transplant clinic (from assistant - surgeon unknown) and the higher was from Joy Kumari (Liverpool skin and hair clinic). If anyone can recommend a surgeon in UK or Europe please do!

Cheers

Mate do not get a hair transplant in the UK. Prices are double what they are on the continent for the same quality

Depends what your budget is but there are some good surgeons in Belgium especially. Erdogan in Turkey is very reputable especially for hairline work but it may not be safe to travel there atm. Hair Restoration Network is a good resource for hair transplant queries.

You want to stick to renowned surgeons specialising in hair transplants and nothing else. Avoid clinics which offer other cosmetic procedures.

km82, I had my surgery done by Dr. Feriduni in Belgium and he's routinely regarded as one of the world's best by his peers and by well researchers in the hair loss community. If you need any advice, just give me a shout. I'm in Newcastle by the way, so not too far.

Thanks Chris.

Do you roughly know how much you paid and number if grafts etc?
