for the last 6 months it seems i have done nothing but look at my hairline,
back of head,2 way mirror, looking at vertex, but back then i could still look at my hair without feeling like sh*t.

The last 5 weeks i have not dared look at my hair, which is very hard when you are as vain as i was.So i go to work not having a clue what my hair looks like, know it looks like sh*t.This helps but only a bit,if i looked at it in the morning, there is no way i would go to work, luckily i dislocated my shoudlor 10 days ago, while having a seizure, this is not new i have about 3 a year, just don't inform the dvla,so i have not seen myself in the mirror in all that time,i shave with a towel wrapped round my head so i don't have to see my hair,i was making a coffee this morning and caught my reflection through the window and at first i did not reconize myself.
Last night i went to my dads to watch football and broke down in tears and told him how i felt,i just needed someone to understand and to be fair he did,but he said all the usual you can't stop your life ,make the best of what you got,but i was pleased with what i had but now the hair has ruined my whole appearence,my dad has a thick norwood 1 and i am ashamed to admit this but i have prayed to god to let him go bald and let me keep my hair,as you might guess things still not improving but am still hopeful, also i have shaved all my body hair off and i mean everything.

because the body hair is a daily reminder of why i am losing my hair, plus i want to see if it grows back i am on avodart so hopefully it won't

i promise this is the last time i say this on this forum because I know it's f*****g annoying, but have you thought of shaving your head? it sorted me right out, dont worry about that sh*t anymore - no point!

i tells ya .. i wish i could talk to my dad like that. my dad was a f*****g a**h** for years and i haven't heard from him for about 3 or 4 years. at least his hair is worse than mine though heh.

that must suck that your dad has an NW1. my dad started losing in late 30s, i started at 24 - *exactly* the same hair type/colour/loss pattern. i like to think it's because i have more testosterone than him. i'm a huge build, he's tiny :p

film flam,

I am going to shave it next week number2 on the back sides and 4 on top,

i know this is not as short as yours but for me going that short is a big step, but the time has come to cut it shorter than ever before

good man.

i mean you'll probably hate and regret it at first - i did. especially if your hair's always been quite long like me, but you get used to it pretty quickly.

i dont exactly like the style, i want long hair, but i like what it has done for me. no stress, no worry.

btw - grade 4 looked like sh*t for me, it seems the shorter you go the less noticable it is. so if it looks bad, try a 3 ;)

antonio666, dude you are only a couple of months in on the dutasteride... your hair is gonna get worse before it gets better...

I am in the same situation as you... i am nearing month 5 on dutasteride and the shedding has only recently stopped!

you gotta keep ur mind off of it for a while until the dutasteride kicks in.. that is what i am trying to do anyway.

Whatever it takes to get you to stop worrying over the dead protein on your skull. Thinking about hair all the time is not healthy and natural. Your appearance is not "ruined," and chances are you're the only person in the world who cares about your hair. Balding or not, I never even notice a guy's hairstyle unless it's weird or something. We're guys--we're supposed to lose a little on top due to our testosterone. Even old guys with seemingly full hair have thinned a little in their 20s and 30s. Hair miniaturization is a sign of sexual maturity to females. It's why flat, Norwood 1 hairlines are generally viewed as "juvenile" hairlines. All this is 100% normal and part of being a man.

Once you shave your head and realize hair doesn't matter on a guy, you'll realize this. All that's important is that you smile and you're well-groomed. That's it. The key is to use hair loss treatments if you want, but to not care so much about it that it takes over your life, because it's not that important.
