Is your scalp itching?

If not I think you’re fine man, sounds like shedding is coming under control
Not much itching, maybe a bit. It burns when I wear a baseball cap. When I run my hand through my hair I will sometimes get one though...

I think you’re good man. My advice, buzz or shave your head and let it grow to see what it looks like in 6 more month

I simply can’t let go of my hair though. I’ve never had a buzzed head in my life. This is all new to me and very traumatizing. I’m really thinking it’s time to go the hair system route because tbh that’s the only way I’ll survive my 20s.

That’s what I thought before buzzing me hair. Now I think it looks better buzzed.

But to be honest as long as you don’t develop a terrible itchy mad scalp I’m pretty confident you’re gonna atleast maintain with propecia

I never understood what people mean by maintain? I’m FAR below baseline right now and I’ve been watching my hair get worse every week since starting finasteride. By maintainance you really believe I can get back to baseline?

I’m seriously considering going the hair system route now because I know I’ll end up doing it later anyway.

There is a term for this. It's called "cognitive dissonance"

Take this guy from RateMe on Reddit

He says he looks "So much better and more professional".

Lol. Normal stoner dude->The new neighbor who has to inform you about the registry he's on

The number of white guys I've seen who look better bald/buzzed than with hair I can count on one hand.

Quite possibly. But I like it more, my girlfriend says she likes it more (trying to make me feel better?), so whatever gonna keep rocking it.

And I don’t think he looks worse

Well my hair wasn’t diffused like this before finasteride, so it is far worse.

Just showered, couldn’t even count the amount of hairs in the catcher. Probably 50+

I think you can spend some time browsing the success stories section, it keeps me positive and on my regime consistently because i was absolutely depressed for years, just the most horrible horrible feeling of despair. i can't post links because im a new user, but RSR39 posted one a few years ago on his success with the big 3.
he claims that he was shedding for the first 2-3 . months and then started seeing improvement in month 3 and there are quite a few cases like his. i'm personally on month 3 myself on the big 3, and i've only started to notice regrowth and hair thickening recently (and based on what i read on this forum, that already makes me one of the earlier responder!). keep a strict regime going for at least a year and then evaluate. i really recommend getting on minoxidil as this is one of the most popular treatment for hair loss.

Thanks panda, I try to do that. But when you are so far below baseline and not even 2 months in, I just don’t know. I think this all started from a Telogen Effluvium and getting on finasteride may have increased the severity.

On a slightly brighter side, after taking a shower today I counted less than 10 hairs! With that being said, yesterday I had maybe 50 hairs so I have to stay cautiously optimistic (obviously). I’ve also scheduled a haircut with a salon that specializes in hair loss tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll know how to hide my thinning areas better. Still waiting on my toppik to come in because without it I have no choice but to be a hat prisoner :(

it's hard to see from your pictures since you have long hair, but i don't really see it as being "far below baseline". when i first started treatment 3 months ago i had really bad shedding for 6 weeks.. i mean just ball of hair in the catcher and about 10~ hair on my hands after i applied shampoo. and 10 more on my hand after i finished rubbing minoxidil on my scalp.. and then it just magically stopped. just this morning i had ONE hair after i applied shampoo.

what kept me from going crazy and abandoning ship was the fact that i was seeing a doctor and to me i was doing the best i could to manage my hair loss by seeing a professional. it gave me a peace of mind. hang in there man, you dont want to look back in a few years and regret not sticking with some type of treatment. and hopefully what happened to you today was the beginning of the end of your shedding! maybe all that shedding was to make room for more healthy hair to grow out :p

Did you end up below baseline for a little while? And then get back to baseline? Because I really am far below baseline, I can feel my whole scalp is just limp and lifeless.

i think i did. no way my hair looked good after having a shed like that. but like i said i stopped checking it in the mirror obsessively.. i think i even avoided looking at the mirror as much as possible altogether. i was already nw3 and badly diffused and my crown was going fast during the shed. now at 3 months i can say it's made progress. stick with it man, people on the forum tend to recommend you to stick with it for 6 - 12 months, and then try dutasteride if things dont work out.
