Never thought I'd go bald, very little family history of balding, my father is a norwood 1 at 60 years old, none of my uncles have much hairless, and my paternal grandfather was about a norwood 2 when he died. My maternal grandfather had male pattern baldness, however he didn't start losing hair until his 60s.
Yet here I am at 20 very scared that I'll be bald before I turn 25. I went through a very stressful period for about 8 months last year. I lost about 40 pounds that I didn't need to lose, and was very malnourished. My hair turned reddish brown and thinned out all over my head, but especially at the top. I was losing a crazy amount of hair, it ended up everywhere.
Its since been about 5 months since I have gotten to a healthy weight, and greatly improved my diet. However my hair hasn't really gotten its density back, it definitely looks healthier but its still thin. My hair is about 6 inches long on top but sits very flat because of how thin it is. I've always had a high hairline and big forehead and my hairline has literally never been straight (I think due to the shape of my head). That being said I definitely think that the period of stress has made my hairline recede into the norwood 2.5/3 territory, the temples have definitely rounded off some. I am very depressed about it. I wear hats all the time now, and can't stand windy days because Im definitely rocking a bit of a comb over, it sucks.
Can treatment save my hair?
Here are some pictures, I think my hair loss looks worse in person however.
