Photo from 1914??
No, most probably it's the quality of the photo. Everyone's hair is looking weird.
And yes, not everybody is born with a straight hairline.

There's hair there but its thinner.

I've seen many kids with thinner hair at the temples (even my baby son). I myself always had thinner hair at my temples. As a baby I didn't have hair at my temples, and when these filled it it was always slightly thinner (looked grey, compared by my dark brown/black hair). They thickened with age (until thinning again once male pattern baldness hit) but my temples have always been thinner.

I am unsure of the reason for this, and do not know if its any indication of future male pattern baldness.

He is losing his hair. Why do you think he looks so pissed?

Well, almost everybody in that photo looks pissed.
No, i don't think you can lose your hair at 10.
And, anyway, at 10 you don't have enough self-conscience yet to be that affected by it.

Ive been nw2 since I was 10 or earlier.

Me too...
I don't know why all people here believe that everybody is born with a perfectly straight hairline.
I've had the "V" in the hairline, in fact a pronounced one, since i was a child.
