Hi.
I am 23 years old. I have been experiencing hair loss since early June. Prior to June I had a decent head of hair (IMO), I always had a mature hairline but it wasn't noticeable as I normally grew out a fringe to cover it.
However, in early June I got my haircut and the barber took way too much off. This left me discontent with my hair and appearance in general. My already high hairline was now more visible. I have had bad/short haircuts before and usually it's no big deal as hair grows back, right? Well this time it became apparent a few weeks after the haircut that my hair was not growing back at the front and in fact was getting shorter. This prompted me to visit a 'hair specialist' who diagnosed me with Male Pattern Baldness and told me the hair at the front had became miniaturised.
I now look like a NW3 and I have been told my several companies that I qualify for a hair transplant.
This is a picture of me in early June (before the haircut); tinypic.com/m/jjy8tv/1 (I blocked out my face using a snap chat filter on purpose)
It's hard for me to accept that less than 6 weeks after this photo was taken I was diagnosed with male pattern baldness and told I am suitable for a hair transplant.
As you can see I have a big forehead (and a high hairline) so hair loss is really effecting my appearance more so than it would most other people. My confidence is gone and I feel like my life is in a rut. I have also since been diagnosed with BDD.
I keep telling myself if I didn't get that fkn haircut, I wouldn't be in this position. What makes it more confusing for me is; male pattern baldness doesn't run in my family. This is apparent as my Father is in his 50's and has a good head of hair. Also, I have an identical twin brother who has a mop of hair and has shown no signs of experiencing hair loss.
I feel like my hair loss predicament is a freak one. What's peoples thoughts? Is it normal to experience hair loss this rapidly?
