Hi all,

I'm 24 and I have been taking finasteride for over a year now to combat my receeding hairline, i have seen no regrowth at all. I feel like it may have receeded a tiny bit more the last couple of months or so. Anyway i need some advice on what to do next. It's making me very depressed and self concious. I can't style my hair the way i used too, people are now noticing my receeding hairline where i used to be able to hide it. I think its starting to make me go slightly crazy! When im having a conversation with someone i notice their eyes wonder up to my hairline and they just start looking at it. Feeling very self conscious about it. I'm about a NW2, and i already have a high hairline so it looks awful. What else could i try? It's just my hairline which is the issue. The rest of my hair is ok! I have heard some people say minoxidil doesnt work for hairlines and could even make it worse? Should i try nizoral? Anything else? I'm very healthy and also supplement biotin. I'm thinking of having an fue transplant this winter.

Have you considered Dutasteride? I have also heard that dermarolling and min can really help - if you’re willing to commit to it. Personally I’ve been on finasteride (1mg/day) for 8 months and seen moderate success but now I will switch to Dutasteride (0,5mg/day).

I haven't done much research into Dutasteride, i did read a little about it and thought the information was a bit conflicting. Some people having great results with it and others saying it made their hair line much worse and gave them horrible side effects. I'm going to look into it again and reconsider it though!

Yeah do your research bro! I think these guys probably couldnt handle the shedding phase but if they had stuck to it they would have regrown those hairs. As far as sides go there is slightly higher chances of sides but that’s to be expected as you’re inhibiting 20-25% more DHT on average. Long term though I feel Dutasteride is a better treatment if you care about your hair! It’s been approved in South Korea too since 2009 and in Japan since 2015. I trust their respective FDA.

What’s your opinion on Dutasteride?

I rather not mingle with anything that isn’t fda approved, but that’s just a matter of personal opinion... I’m also bias because I’ve seen the wonders that finasteride has done to my brother, and he’s been on it for 7 years... I’m personally on and off it so I’m dealing with slowed hair loss, but my brothers loss has been completely reverted after 7 years of consistency
