No new growth after 5 1/2 months

I had 3200 grafts 5 1/2 months ago and I have zero hairs coming in and no improvement in density. This is my second procedure. My first was with 1200 grafts and came out fairly well. I went to a better clinic for this second procedure. I think there should be some growth at this point. My surgeon took me off minoxidil 2 months before surgery. He told me that since I had some problems with peeling after my first one, that I should just stop minoxidil all together. I don't know what to do at this point. My thoughts are starting be negative about my second procedure. My surgeon told me that I wouldn't need another transplant after the second procedure and I will have plenty of density. So far it's not looking good. I know I'm supposed to start to see new growth at 6 months. And, honestly, I don't realistically see new growth all of the sudden in 2 weeks. I asked the surgeon if there was anything I could take or use on my grafts that would help. He said don't put anything on them. If anybody can share any thoughts it would be appreciated. :( :(

You can try MSM. It can help to speed graft growth. Recommended doseage is 3,000 mg daily. You can find it in the vitamin section of any health food or drug store.

Subsequent procedures are infamous for growing in slower than initial procedures so your situation doesnt suprise me. Keep your chin up and follow your physicians' advice. The only thing I question is the use of minoxidil on the recipient area (I strongly believe in it directly post-op after the initial 10 or 12 days) but you mentioned that you had some trouble with it so thats where his reasoning comes in and he he is far more familiar with your situation than I am (that, and he is a physician  )

Good luck and hang in there.
