ive read a lot of the posts..but i have never seen it condensed into one abou twhat to eat and what to not eat to avoid thinner hair. yes, yes...i know your diet won't have a drastic effecy on what your hair looks like. But I feel that it can make a difference in thickness. Someone asked about the book and one of the replies was..theres too much stuff on diet..read it yourself. Can anyone with any information please add? GOOD: Eggs, beans, green tea, red wine
Bad: salty food

Thanks..I htink a lot of people would be interested in this.

as for as i know if we reduce intake of animal product we can save our hair, because animal fat is the main cause to rise our dht level.

Try this, have a glass of water in morning when you wake up. do this for a month, and see the result.

just eat healthily..

soy foods
vegies
fish
salmon esp.

i doubt there would be any specific foods to drastically improve hair quality. just general health.

Here's a link to something about diet, inflammation, and hairloss : http://www.hairloss-research.org/february2.html and yes, stay away from animal fats too. They are not good for ya anyways. :)

I do firmly believe that male pattern baldness is influenced by diet. Sure, I mean diet make not take away the genetic predisposition to male pattern baldness, but it will have an influence on how fast you lose it and it might control it to a degree. It will make the existing hair better. Also, I believe it will allow us to get the best results we can get from out treatments, allowing them to work better. :)

I believe that the "western diet" may have caused a small increase in male pattern baldness in asian countries (some small observational studies document this trend)... The increase in saturated fats (red meats, fat) and sugars in the asian diet recently has been blamed by some for an increase in male pattern baldness in those countries. There is still a genetic factor, however, but cutting down on fat and sugar is good for so many other reasons that it is worth the effort regardless of the effect on your hair.

Example of a man who eats a good diet yet has male pattern baldness... health guru dr Weil

Yes I agree. Kinda like Loren Pickart is bald yet has developed treatment for male pattern baldness.LOL!! Doesn't mean that using their info won't help though. It's almost like a person would have to go with a diet that "isolates" or revolves around hairloss. I guess someone would have to eat "more" of the stuff that helps with male pattern baldness, than just eat healthy as a whole. :)

But do you eat cheese and sweets? Either way nobody is claiming that diet can stop hairloss, just that it may effect it.

I went from eating healthy to eating like sh*t and even drinking and smoking for about 8 months. No noticeable hairloss when that spell was over. I then went to a high protein diet with a ridiculous weight lifting regimen for about 4 months. I actually felt like I was on roids I was so agressive. Over the course of that year I went from no hairloss to drastic thinning up top. It could have been accelerated by the bad diet, smoking or even the high androgen levels. All I know is that there was no apparent problem when I was eating a lot of veggies, excercising regularly but tamely, not smoking, not eating too much red meat, etc.

Exactly! I think the way some peoples diets are, it'll either aggravate male pattern baldness or help it a little. Depends on what you eat. I did read somewhere that cigarette smoking increase cadmium levels. When cadmium levels rise, 5 alpha reductase does too. Also, cadmuim destroys zinc. :)

I try to keep things simple. I hate scientific jargon too. I just post what I know and might be helpful. It's amazing...........when you learn about male pattern baldness, you learn about the entire fuckin body. The human body is a true work of art. Interesting to learn about it. :)

Kalika, do you smoke marijuana?
LOL!!! No, sure don't. If it were a good treatment for male pattern baldness, I would. Wouldn't that be cool. Get high and grow your hair at the same time. Side effects = the munchies. LOL :)

I wouldn't doubt it. For years we were taught that dairy (milk, cheese, whatever) - was essential for heathy growth. In the last 10 - 12 years though - dairy's gotten a really bad rap and blamed with everything from autism to chronic ear infections in children.

I think (not that I'm a dietician or anything) that 1 dairy problem these days is the high animal fat content - which is why I always use the 2% milk instead of whole milk.

Another problem is the new "feed" the cows are getting these days - which also contriobutes to a change in the dairy by-products.

One day it's good for you - next day you hear it's loaded w/ toxic carcinogens. Can't friggin' win.
