The active ingredient in Nizoral is Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is only in Nizoral and has been shown in studies to disrupt DHT in the scalp and to increase the diameter of the hair by 7% or so over 6months.

Nizoral 2% is prescription in the USA. You will either need to get a doctor to write you a prescription for the Nizoral, buy the 1% OTC version, or buy the 2% on the Internet from Canada where the 2% in non-prescription.

In-between Nizoral days you can use whatever shampoo you like. Revivogen shampoo is a good one if you want to dish out $20 USD for it. Thickening shampoos like "Vive for men" and "Jason's thin to thick" are also good options.

As far as vitamin and herb supplements... dont waste your money :D

Not quite true, Ketoconazole is in Nizoral, Ketopine, Boots Anti-Dandruff shampoo and a few other similar shampoos.

I have also heard that for some people overwashing of your hair can cause your scalp to produce more sebum, prehaps reduce the use of shampoo to everyother day for a few weeks to see if your hair becomes less oily.

Ty, that's known as the "feedback theory", and was laid to rest more than 45 years ago by the famous Albert M. Kligman, MD, PhD. He and his colleagues proved that sebum is produced continuously by the sebaceous glands, without regard to oil or sebum sitting on the surface of the skin/scalp.

That's the one.

1 gram = 1000 milligrams

so....

20mg/g is 20mg per 1000mg

or 2%
