Nizoral Shampoo, How Much Keto Is Absorbed Into Our System?

Nizoral shampoo is considered one of the big 3, most assume that it's because it has weak anti-androgen effect, but I'm thinking it's more because of its ketoconazole ingredients which is a potent CYP3A4 inhibitor. According to this article:

"Long-term combination of dutasteride with drugs that are potent inhibitors of the enzyme CYP3A4 (e.g. ritonavir, indinavir, nefazodone, itraconazole, ketoconazole administered orally) may increase serum concentrations of dutasteride."


However, we don't consume ketoconazole orally, so how much does ketoconazole is absorbed into our system when used in this shampoo form?

Also, when I use keto shampoo, I notice more hair shed during shower compared to regular shampoo. I wonder does keto shampoo induce shedding as well?

Since it remains on the head for just a few minutes, and is completely washed away from the scalp, I think there is next to no systemic absorption.

Some say it works because it makes your scalp more healthy (less oily, less dandruff) and more receptive to minoxidil. I guess that, just like minoxidil, there are different theories about how it really works.

I have been on prescription 2% keto poo for about 4 months..I had a lot of short hairs shed in first 2 to 4 weeks that scared me because all were thick... I will say they were not hairs really anchored into my head if i tugged with my finger they would come out anyway before starting shampoo..so i think they were dead is my point. I still see a few short hairs here and there but look super skinny so not concerned also not nearly as many (before was like 20 very short hairs per washing now its like 4 to 6 per washing) and the newer hair in my head mostly seems more anchored then 4 months ago...Hope that makes sense. and i hope i did not jinx myself
