Hi, I'm new to this and just wanted some advice as to how to proceed. (I've been reading/lurking for a few weeks now just trying to learn from what's been posted, but I think I might have gone a bit overboard in purchasing various products). I'm dead set against using either Rogaine/Minoxidil or Propecia/Finasteride - I'm not willing to risk the side-effects, and quite frankly, would sooner prefer to lose more hair than to potentially develop heart problems or to grow man boobs. (And I know not everyone would get these side effects, but knowing myself, I probably would).

I've been taking Saw Palmetto for about 8 months now, and noticed that there has been no change either way. (I'm 34, and have pretty much been between stages 2 and 3 of the Norwood-Hamilton scale for 3 years now. However, I started to develop a bald spot on my vertex ten years ago, at 24).

I recently started using Nizoral 2%, and I just purchased the S5 Cream, Revivogen and Tricomin (solution, shampoo and conditioner of both Revivogen and Tricomin).

I just don't know if I should use all of these products concurrently, and if so, how should they be staggered?

Also, am I just wasting my time and money by refusing to use either minoxidil or finasteride?

to me the side effects are overblown. yes, they do happen, but the only times you hear about it are from people who DO get side effects. meaning the 90-95% of guys who DON'T get side effects aren't going to be posting about how normal they feel. so all you hear is about how finasteride, as someone just put it, may "ruin your life"

but i can't tell you what to do with your body. i think with the products you got you might slow it down some, but i dont see them help you regrow or stabilize.

jonsie150, thanks for your frankness. I'm going to give this a try for a good year, and if I still see that I'm thinner next fall, I might reconsider my position.

I guess something else that freaks me out is that you basically have to be a lifer once you begin with finasteride - and minoxidil. (Also my cousin takes finasteride and he's developed a real 'moon face' and gained weight in general)
