It will take a lot longer than than 6-9 months if the follicle has been compromised. Hair is dead and the anagen cycle takes years to complete.

It does not look like the forehead is too tall.
I would not worry by now.
For nizoral, hair replaces itself in some months so it will be back to normal in a while

Hi everyone. So back in November my brother went to the doctor as he had a very itchy scalp with pimples all over filled with blood and pus. the doctor prescribed him antibiotics and 2 percent Nizoral.

The mistake he my brother made? Well I think he over used nizoral. He used it every 3 or 4 days. Plus every time he used it he rinsed and repeated 4 times each shower. Then after his 2nd week of using it his hair became very thin and limp literally lifeless. He also has these weird stringy hairs all over his hair. He hasn't used nizoral for about a month but his hair hasn't gone back to it's original texture which is thick.

The antibiotics cleared his scalp up but will his hair go back to it's original state or is this permanent?

First it is thin then it goes away permanently. You accept thin hair, if it's not there anymore.

Does he have hair loss, how old is he.

Apologies to OP.. I was a bit drunk last night and in an overall bad mood. No excuses, it was uncalled for.

I still hold sentiment to the core of what I said. I was a dumbass when I was younger with my acne. Picking at it too much and making a few other bad decisions led to it going full blown cystic. A round of Accutane did seemingly cure it.. I regret accutane though. I suffered lingering sides from it for years afterwards. I never had much acne on my scalp, so I can't fully relate. As far as the hot water comment, I'm not sure if your brother actually washes his hair in hot water, but I would advise him not too. It may be bro science or whatever, but I'm a firm believer that washing my hair in cool water has reduced shedding. Also tell him to go easy on the nizoral.. maybe drop down to a 1% keto shampoo and to try his best not to mess with his acne. It literally only makes things worse. Trust me. Luckily I discovered dermarolling to reduce scarring.

Took vacation for next month just to do another deep roll and ghost for several days until my face heals fully.
Jw, what lingering sides did you get from accutane I am on it now, I'm reading it can cause temporary shedding

I shed hair while on it, but that seemed to have stopped once off... The main side effect that lingered for years afterwards was an intestinal issue. Mainly in the mornings. I'd wake up most every morning feeling like my insides were tied in a knot. It would start to fade after I took my morning piss and I rarely would notice it during the day. Took years for it to go away. Probably 4 or 5 to really start fading. It's been 7 years since I've taken it and very seldom does it happen now. It wasn't completely unbearable, but I noticed it enough for years to know that Accutane may have been a mistake. Could have done other things to me that I'm not aware of. I only took 1 six month round. Would have never touched it again even if my acne had come back.

While on it, the main side effects were the intestinal thing as previously explained, hair shedding, mood swings and VERY dry skin and lips. The only time I ever actually considered committing suicide was while on Accutane. Although I can't blame the drug fully.. I was at the bottom of the barrel mainly because of my skin issues at the time.

Also, I never went to a doctor about the intestinal issue.. I just toughed it out for years. I figured they would prescribe me another drug to alleviate the symptoms. After Accutane I did not trust taking another medication that solves one problem and creates 3 others.

I feel you man. Try cutting out gluten and dairy, even if you arnt allergic you can be "intolerant" and not know. Those are the two main intolerances. They both cause minor inflammation in the body. May help side effects

Hello, for intestinal issue, you should look what you eat (carrot etc), a real doctor wouldn't give you prompt a drug, maybe a diet.

I have been having the same problem. I started taking ketoconazole 2% for my dandruff problem 2 times a week. I used it for about 6 weeks as instructed by my doctor. During that time my hair become really limp and started shedding a lot of hair during wash(no shedding before I started keto). I used to have afro textured hair but now it is really different. After I stopped using it for about a year now, the texture doesn't seem to reverse. The thing is I still notice a lot of shedding while washing and now my hairline appears to be receding. My hairloss history is: all perfect hair on my father's side and maternal grandpa kept his hair until his 60's. And my mother's 3 brothers went bald around age 40. BTW I am 19. You might say no shampoo could cause permanent hair loss. But if it can cause permanent texture change it might also cause permanent hair loss. I need to know if it is the shampoo or male pattern baldness, because I am thinking about starting finasteride.

My personal belief is that nizoral just dries out your hair to a large extent. Even when I use conditioner my hair texture is always different on my nizoral days. I actually like it though and usually plan my nizoral days from when I'm going out. Hair is dry but more puffy/fluffy.

Hi Jerry, I have had the same experience, I am a female with afro texture hair and I've lost my curl pattern and color in the front of my hair where I applied the 2%shampoo. My hair is very limp, dry and frizzy as well. Has your hair texture improved yet? It has been several months and my hair seems to be growing from the roots the same way!
