Nizoral Ruined Hair Will It Go Back To Normal?

Hi everyone. So back in November my brother went to the doctor as he had a very itchy scalp with pimples all over filled with blood and pus. the doctor prescribed him antibiotics and 2 percent Nizoral.

The mistake he my brother made? Well I think he over used nizoral. He used it every 3 or 4 days. Plus every time he used it he rinsed and repeated 4 times each shower. Then after his 2nd week of using it his hair became very thin and limp literally lifeless. He also has these weird stringy hairs all over his hair. He hasn't used nizoral for about a month but his hair hasn't gone back to it's original texture which is thick.

The antibiotics cleared his scalp up but will his hair go back to it's original state or is this permanent?

Your brother sounds like a dumbass that probably washes his hair much too vigorously in very hot water over and over. Probably scratches and messes with his hair too much just like he does with his pimples.

You really don't have to be rude man. I just asked a simple question about nizoral ruining his hair. instead of being rude you could've just said your brother probably washed his hair too much. thanks anyways.

Hey man. I use 2 percent keto every other day and I have no problems. It acutally has helped my hair. Using it multiple times during one shower was not the best decision for him. If you look at the side effects of keto, abnormal hair texture is a side effect. I think his hair will go back to normal assuming he doesn't have male pattern baldness

Thank you very much. Do you have any estimate as to when it may go back to normal?

Lmao, funny, but I'll admit that was harsh and uncalled for. His bro is probably just a clueless kid trying his best to get rid of his acne thinking more is better.

To the OP, for me keto 2% more than once a week is a no go, and I try to leave it for no more than 3-5 minutes. I can do twice a week for a short period though if needed.

Apologies to OP.. I was a bit drunk last night and in an overall bad mood. No excuses, it was uncalled for.

I still hold sentiment to the core of what I said. I was a dumbass when I was younger with my acne. Picking at it too much and making a few other bad decisions led to it going full blown cystic. A round of Accutane did seemingly cure it.. I regret accutane though. I suffered lingering sides from it for years afterwards. I never had much acne on my scalp, so I can't fully relate. As far as the hot water comment, I'm not sure if your brother actually washes his hair in hot water, but I would advise him not too. It may be bro science or whatever, but I'm a firm believer that washing my hair in cool water has reduced shedding. Also tell him to go easy on the nizoral.. maybe drop down to a 1% keto shampoo and to try his best not to mess with his acne. It literally only makes things worse. Trust me. Luckily I discovered dermarolling to reduce scarring.

Took vacation for next month just to do another deep roll and ghost for several days until my face heals fully.

Also, something I found that helps with acne that I wish I had discovered sooner is massaging with olive oil.. I've never done it on my scalp and it may be hard to do depending on your hair length, but it works wonders for the skin.

So you think that nizoral changed his hair texture? is it permanent?

You should post a picture where one can see the eyebrows, otherwise one cannot see how tall the forehead is.
Unfortunately the texture of the hairline seems a bit thin.

Looks like. Is your brother on medication? It is an early stage and can probably be stopped if not slightly reversed.

No medication man. Like his hair looks perfect when he doesn't pull his hairline back and just does the undercut for example. But when he pulls it back altogether it's like this.
