Just wondering...is the 1% otc version useless? I picked up some yesterday and was wondering if it would be worth using until I can order some 2%.

Also is there anything I should know about using nizoral? Like is it ok to use on a daily basis? Thanks in advance.

There aren't usually any serious side effects from using "too much" Nizoral. Some users find that if they use it too much, their scalp dries out. If you find the same and it bothers you, then just cut back the frequency of your use.

1% isn't useless, but it goes without saying that it'll be less effective than 2%. I don't really know exactly how much difference it'll make, and I doubt anyone else will either.

oooops i just posted another question about Nizoral 1%. Since starting it a week ago my scalp has been red and itchy. I use it every 3 days. Do you think I should keep using it for some time ?

anyone ever shed from nizoral? I have been on propecia for 10 months and my hair pretty much stayed the same, but 2 months ago my Doctor gave me a script for 2% Keto shampoo and in that time my hair has gotten worse. I use it about 3-4 times a week. Any thoughts?

soulswing112, I answered to your question in your other topic. Try to don't post the same question twice!

heynow1234, shedding from Nizoral? Never heard bout it! How is the condition of your scalp? Maybe using 4 times a week is too much. Try also Neutrogena T-Gel 2 times a week, but mix a little amount of it with water in a little plastic pot before applying on the scalp because the shampoo itself is really sticky. Massage gently with your fingertips and leave on the scalp for about 5 minutes.
All depends on your scalp condition. Tell me bout ur scalp situation there.

See u!

but what's with this washing between nizoral? i always thought it's healthy to wash your hair 1-2 a week. since we are balding, maybe there are other things to consider. i personally use nizoral every 3 days but don't wash my hair on off-days, should i wash it then also?

"Possible side effects of Ketoconazole Shampoo:
All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome:

Itching; mild irritation or stinging; oiliness and dryness of hair and scalp.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); increased or abnormal hair loss; reddening, blistering, peeling, itching, or burning of your skin.

This is not a complete list of all side effects that may occur. If you have questions about side effects, contact your health care provider. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088. You may also report side effects at http://www.fda.gov/medwatch.

I think the FDA might be just covering their behinds with those warnings. Since keto shampoos are harsh on hair, using significant amounts for a long time may be bad for hair.

They may as well also put warning signs on combs about hairloss.
