Nizoral contains ketoconazole. People with dandruff or SB have a problem with a certin bacteria on the scalp, their body fights off this bacteria but with no real succsess- scalp skin is shed rapidly( dandruff) and an itching feeling is felt due to the emune response against the bacteria. ketoconazole kills this bacteria, thus stopping the body froM attacking it--> no more emune response-->no more dandruff and itch.

so besides ketoconazole's very slight anti androgenic affect, why do people with male pattern baldness use ketoconazole?
If nizoral helps your itch, it means you have SB or sebora( dandruff), and your itch has nothing to do with male pattern baldness.I am not sure at all that such a thing as a non sb or sebora itch existeS.

I am wondering the same thing. My scalp bugs me when I use Nizoral, so I ask myself is it really worth it? Maybe it is doing more harm than good.

I think it is the anti-androgenic effect that has people using it. fI agree though, why list it as one of the Big 3? Surely nobody is on a nizoral-based regimen?

Well, the immune attack agains p ovlales, might also be bad for fallicles. I mean, think of it, an immune attack that's going of near the fallicles can posiblly heart them.
