this bull**** on here about people sayinf nizoral helps for hairloss and makes hair thicker is the dumbest thing i heard. im using it myself and all it does is dry out your hair which makes it APPEAR to be thicker when you run your hands through it thinking you habe more hair. its not, its just hair hair being more rough

I don't recall anyone saying it makes it thicker per se, perhaps when you start using it, like an new shampoo it appears to give it a volume boost, but that's just hairs response to a new chemical, most shampoos have that type of affect the first couple uses - then your hair adapts and doesn't respond to the same affect.
Nizoral is a good scalp cleanser to keep DHT off your scalp, and if it's successful healthier hair should grow giving density - but this takes time and needs to be used with other things like finasteride, dutasteride, minoxidil.

You have to let it on your head for 5-10 minutes. I usually apply before I brush my teeth then it's the final rinse in the shower. Maybe you're doing this. I'll also a conditioner from time to time.

Ok let's just all ignore the numerous studies on pubmed and dermatology journals that PROVES it works.

What I know about Nizoral

I know that its purpose is to treat dandruff, which is crucial for those who use Minoxi, which is probably the most common treatment. First time I hear about using it for thickening effect..
Anyway, you should NOT use it on a daily basis! Of course it dries the hair. 1-2 times a week is enough. Drying your scalp skin too much is bad for your hair.
On other days use a natural shampoo , with no SLS (one of Nizoral fault is that it contains SLS). If the hair is too dry skip shampoo for one day, unless it's also dirty.

stop talking bs and prove with facts, show me the studies

lol if you think I'm gonna compile a list for you. There's several posted on this site alone and like I said on pubmed. Don't expect others to do the work for you. I couldn't care less if you used nizoral or not.

If you already have a dry scalp, nizoral might be bad in some ways. Honestly, 1 per week is prolly more than enough since it's so damn harsh.

Anyone use regenpure (sp?)? I just bought some.

Nizoral seems like a nice shampoo thus far. I can't really say what's it's full effectiveness is, but I'll explain my short experience with it.. I've been using it 2x per week for a few weeks now. 5/6 total uses so far.. On days that I use it I'll prewash myhair with a PH balanced baby shampoo. Just a simple lather and rinse.. I think this is important to get your hair and scalp prepped better for the active ingredient in Nizoral and similar shampoos, ketoconazole. I may use a different shampoo between Nizoral uses, but as of late I've been using a PH balanced baby shampoo as my everyday shampoo. I always use cold water when shampooing my hair. It's just something I believe in for whatever that's worth. I use the 2% version of Nizoral.

Something I've noticed in my short experience with it, is that it seems to thicken my hair shafts, which a lot of people have seen. I like the way it makes my hair look and my scalp feel. If anything, it's a solid shampoo. Not sure what it'll do for me as far as hair growth/loss, but the scientific studies speak for themselves. I've also noticed that I see it's benefit more on the days between it's uses after I've washed with my other shampoo.

My guess is that for guys with aggressive male pattern baldness, Nizoral may not do much and they will discredit it and give up on it before it's had a chance to make any difference. Even if it would be slight for them.. As of now, I have mild hair loss. I'm an NW2 at 27 and have been an NW2 since 20.. I think I'm going to stick with Nizoral and then research and add on to my regimen from here in hopes of maintaining my hair or slightly improving it.
