nizoral... how important is that really?

Hi

I've been going back and forth between regrowth and loss, so I was thinking the only thing that haven't been consistent is my use of Nizoral.

Does it really play a big difference in fighting hairloss?

IMO nizoral isnt as significant as finasteride and MIN

but it does attempt to reduce inflammation
and that is believed to contribute to hair loss

i guess it all depends on the duration you were off it

im sure you can get away with just using it once a week

I have seen it describe as being as good as MIN for topical stimulation of hair growth with the added benefit (unlike MIN) of protecting scalp hair from androgen's like T and DHT.

I would say it's more important than minoxidil. See these posts:

Most likely not as effective as finasteride, though. But then, finasteride is not a topical.

I've had very good results without Nizoral and cannot imagine that it would give me the same or better results than minoxidil.

It won't make or break your regimen but its important..

however...people who try to use it daily are probably doing more harm than good due to irritation.

My hair gets so oily that the Nizoral is great for cleaning that up, and I never get any irritation from it, never.

TOPICAL Nizoral shampoo must be potent. To my surprise the RX info paper for the painkiller T r a m a d o l for my granddad it named the oral brand Nizoral by name: "tell your doctor if you are using Nizoral (keto...)with this product."

There's a pretty good point in the first study:

The mean sebaceous gland area of the Nizoral group decreased by 19.4%. However, in the minoxidil group, the area increased by 5.3%.

To my mind, it might well be that Nizoral acts as antiandrogen reducing the size of the sebaceus gland whereas minoxidil does just the opposite. Thus I believe the latter can promote regrowth by inducing anagen phase but at the same time it accelerates the balding process.

This may explain why some people claim that minoxidil ruined their hair.

I've had very good results without Nizoral and cannot imagine that it would give me the same or better results than minoxidil.

Same here 2 years on proscar and Ive tried both nizoral + Revita months for each one, to give them each a fair try and they just caused huge sheds. Without them Ive had no Shedding at all

I've been using Nizoral 1-2 times/week and was thinking of starting minoxidil, so I'm glad I came here first. I'm gonna start using it 3 times/week for a few months and see if that helps any.
