Nizoral article and now a question!

I read the hair transplant newsletter about Nizoral and it was a very good article and something clicked when I read the part about "scalp acne" that can be caused after long use of nizoral.......I have been experiencing maybe one or two "scalp pimples" every four days and now i know what i can attribute it too.............

my question is, I am a sufferer of seborrhea dermatitis (sp?), however I do not want to give nizoral up...should I still continue nizoral even though I get scalp acne, anything else to combat the scalp acne associated with nizoral?

By the way I have been using nizoral for 8 months and folligen for 7 months along with minoxidil 5% and 1mg proscar for 9 months.

Thanks
Brian

No answer for the scalp acne deal, sorry  I'm curious though, as to how you've responded to that treatment, what kinda shedding you experienced (if any), and how old you are.

regarding to responding to my regimen...i'm a diffuse thinner with a great hairline but in the light i am thin in the vertex and mid part of the scalp all the way to the front........so far so good with my regimen people have commented that when they look down on my hair they can no longer see the scalp like they used to!

also, i did not experience any sheds!! atleast none that i know of....hopefully things will continue, because I still would like some more regrowth......I hate diffuse thinning :(

I hear ya, diffuse thinning's the WORST. I'm okay with the hairline deal (well, up to NW2, after that no thanks) Good to hear you didn't have any sheds though, that's what I've been worried about, and it's great to hear that you're responding. Good luck with the acne.

Did the article mention scalp acne from Nizoral? I don't remember that part. My brain is on overload right now though, so what do i Know :)

If anything, Nizoral has antiandrogenic effects which should mean that acne shouldn't be an issue ... I don't think. Then again what do I know. :) I thought that should reduce the chance of it if anything.

I got little pimples when I was on Propecia. Right at the hairline. In fact I get them now from the Revivogen if I am not careful to wash off the excess that drips down onto my forehead sometimes. Its a result of just having an irritant there, thats oily, etc. Nothing more. If you're talking one or two pimples I wouldn't stop nizoral because of it. I dont even think nizoral can cause pimples but ... like we've established, what do I know :)

Put some toothpaste on it, or acne med, and let that dry the bugger up.

Try Dr. Lee's Regrowth shampoo, has the same active ingredient, plus 3% salicylic acid.
