i wouldnt have faith in dutasteride regrowing temple hairs, many report it makes their front worse, the problem is people with sucess need to start posting more pictures so we can see the truth. I havent seen many pics of people here on dutasteride and their hairline.

at least in the back, Avodart should be 33% stronger than Propecia, based on it's comparison to Proscar, and some smaller trials comparing Proscar to Prospecia to 0.2mg.

So dutasteride is worse at the front? :?
I believe Bryan posted an actual study done a few months back suggesting that Avodart IMPROVED the frontal haircounts.

Just say not to dutasteride, unless you have tried finasteride for at least a year.

eh, dutasteride at a low dose, same as finasteride. but with a far more stable inhibition rate. no ups and downs.

i think before any1 jumps str8 onto dutasteride in the first place should atleast try the big 3 for a year, and if you cant at least maintain on the big 3 in a year then move to dutasteride, but if you dont get lazy with your treatments and now with rogaine foam better absorption i find it hard for someone not to at least maintain hair counts on the big three.

Why?

Not being difficult, just asking man :)

I've got 200 caps on the way from UP, but if there's a good reason I shouldn't take them, let me know...

The Avodart is 20% stronger than Proscar, and Proscar 20% stronger than Propecia. 1mg of propecia is 20% stronger than 0.2mg of finasteride.

CCS, are you saying that Proscar regrows 20% more hair than Propecia? What's your data source? I know that the Merck dose ranging study compared 1mg and 5mg doses, and that data makes Proscar look about 20% better than Propecia.

HAIR COUNT - DIFFERENCES FROM PLACEBO
1mg 77-(-7) = 84
5mg 95-(-7) = 102

However, this is an unfair comparison since the doses were compared over different time periods. The hair count for 1mg was made at 6 months, that for 5mg was made at 12 months. Since Propecia takes up to a year to achieve maximum effect, there's no reason why the 1mg hair count couldn't climb towards the 102 figure. Since 1mg and 5mg of finasteride inhibit very similar amounts of DHT, that's what I'd expect.

Are you using a GTE topical or just mixing it in your shampoo? If not, why not?

I just don't like putting messes in my hair, and especially don't like the thin look I get after applying them. My hair looks much thicker fluffed. I am interested in applying it before bed or 1 hour before a shower, but not after.

Use them. Just don't believe you are doing the king of treatments. finasteride and topical GTE is probably a lot stronger than Avodart because the GTE is an AR blocker. Avodart only inhibits DHT production, not testosterone binding, and DHT is 3-4 times as strong as testosterone.

On the basis of taking a single pill everyday... Avodart is the King of treatments.

A 21% gain in hair count is not to be sniffed at, although neither is it "amazing". And I guess dutasteride counts as a 'proven' treatment, whereas CCS' homebrew concotions are most definitely not.

but we have no idea if the shampoo, is having an effect, especially when it is on the scalp for only 5 mins max. It is experimental.

I am not claimly that it doesn't do anything, and I want to try it out too, but it is not a definite effective treatment.

Plus, if you use dutasteride plus topicals then you would be doing better than if you u used finasteride and topicals.

good idea. If i convinced you that dutasteride by itself is not the super safety net, I did my job. You can do an easy shampoo, combined with dutasteride. I'm happy with my finasteride though

where is there proof dutasteride holds hair counts as good as propecia for 5 years though. till dutasteride has similar test no one can say for certain. no one doubts dutasteride grows more hair then propecia in 6 months but till we get data on 5 years im still weiry. ill feel alot better once dutasteride is out longer and more data is on it, ill let you guys be my guine pigs for a few more years :p
