Nioxin

So I am going to try this new scalp therapy kit for fine hair called Nioxin. It is a three piece kit with condition, shampoo, and cleanser...it also comes with a follicle booster. Apparently the idea is that it will thicken your hair by cleansing the scalp and DHT.

Has anyone used or are currently using this?

I will keep everyone posted on how it works, I can't afford the rogaine foam, even though I would like to add it with this.

dont bother waste of time....i think nioxin is the biggest scam of all time...I think all hair stylists are brainwashed into recommending nioxin...DO NOT waste your time.

I've been using just the shampoo and scalp therapy conditioner for a few months now. I can't tell how much it's helping because I've been using it with minoxidil and nizoral, but I don't think I like it enough to buy it again. It's very expensive and I'm now blowing large amounts of money on other hair loss treatments, like spironolactone. I have heard a lot of people say they were not happy with it. It may help a little, but I wouldn't try to grow my hair back with nioxin alone.

Have you considered Nizoral? I can't say my experience with it has been any better, but it seems to have a much better reputation, and it's much cheaper. Also, as far as shampoos go, a biotin shampoo would be great for a thicker look, at least for a little while. I used one once before when I first suspected my hairline was thinning and it made my hair bigger than ever, but it didn't give the same volume over time. I think you have to rotate shampoos because they all lose their effect with time. The only problem with the biotin shampoo was it made me think I had a full head of hair, so I didn't seek serious treatment till later. I think I'm gonna get one again when my Nioxin runs out.

I've used Nioxin and I was stupid enough to think it was going to do something. If I started on Propecia when I stated on Nioxin I would be a NW1

No, I haven't tried Nizoral because I can't find it and it's also a dandruf shampoo and I don't have any dandruf. People on here tell me to see the site and it'll explain why I'd need it for balding, but I don't find any information on the site.

I may try using rogaine foam as well, but that stuff is expensive as hell. I suppose it beats the losing the use of my penis by way of Propecia.

The clinical trials showed that less than 2% of finasteride users suffered sexual side effects.

You don't have to have dandruff to use Nizoral for male pattern baldness. Here's one of the studies pointing to its benefits for treating hair loss:

Method: The effect of 2% KCZ shampoo was compared to that of an unmedicated shampoo used in combination with or without 2% minoxidil therapy. Results: Hair density and size and proportion of anagen follicles were improved almost similarly by both
KCZ and minoxidil regimens. The sebum casual level appeared to be decreased by KCZ. Conclusion: Comparative data suggest that there may be a significant action of KCZ upon the course of androgenic alopecia and that Malassezia spp. may play a role in the inflammatory reaction. The clinical significance of the results awaits further controlled study in a larger group of subjects.
