I have been using Rogain for about 2 weeks and shedding is going away. My hairdresser recommended Nioxin. Can I do both? My hair has just started to thin. When should I start thinking about Propecia?

Propecia should be added as soon as you start to see thinning, as for Nioxin it is a nice shampoo and con but will do nothing for hair loss.

Hope that helps

Id start Propecia now aswell.. results in a year... cant do any harm in trying it. But go for Proscar instead... cheaper, you cut it into 4 or five and it does exactly the same thing...

Be prepared to have to take Minoxidil for ever if you've started already. Id personally take proscar first... then add minoxidil down the track... i fully hate the stuff... especially having to look at my hairline in detail day in day out, whereas Proscar takes 2 seconds once a day and its piss easy.

Others on this forum will disagree about the minoxidil, thats fair enough as it works well for some, but just be prepared for the commitment... i wasn't, and im not just yet.

Nioxin is apparently a nice shampoo, but it will not help with your hairloss. But since it's a nice shampoo, why not rotate it with Nizoral 2%, the only shampoo proven to combat hairloss effectively.

I use Nioxin. It is a great shampoo and conditioner. That is about it. It will make your existing hair appear thicker and fuller, though.

Never listen to a hairdresser about hair loss. They know just about as much as your butcher, your baker, and your candlestick maker. I know they stare at hair all day, but that doesn't mean squat. I can stare at an atom all day through a microscope but I won't be able to tell you how to split the goddamn thing no matter how long I look.
