Nioxin? or Nizoral?

Im currently 17 years old. Been using Minoxidil 5% liquid form for 4 months. Results havent been there, i think, my shedding process is starting to decrease now . I have been nizorial, but i dont think its helping. I came across a brand that many people have told me about called nioxin. Has anyone heard of it? its a shamppoo that eliminates DHT on scale and helps increase hair density in 9/10 people. Im wondering if i should use this shampoo as apposed to nizoral. i asked my dermatolgist, he said nizoral is probably the best shampoo to use, but doesnt help either. what should i do? should i use nioxin? can i use both?

I started using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner (for noticeably thinning hair) last September when I noticed my hair was getting thinner. I still use it every other day, but I can't say it's helped to regrow hair. Maybe it's helped me maintain what hair I had when I started using it, to some degree, but I can't be sure.

Maintaining what i have and thicking it would be a blessing, id be very fortunate and happy to just maintain what i have, but it is rather HIGH maintance T_T. IM 17, so i would just liike to keep waht i got. Out of curiousity, how old are you, and any family members bald , and is that why you tried using nioxin? if you feel like its been helping you maintain your hair, its worth a try.

But that's the thing: I'm not sure if it's helped me to really maintain what I had before I started using it, or if my hairloss has just been slow over the past ten months. To answer your questioms, I'm 23 years old; both of my grandpas and my younger brother (who is 22) are bald (my dad and his brother are in their forties and both still have a full head of hair).

Nioxin will not, I repeat, NOT regrow your hair. It might slow your hair loss a bit, but it's NOT a permanent solution.

Having said that, I use it every time I shower. I just like it for the job that it does. My hair would always feel "sticky" after shampooing, but the Nioxin conditioner leaves it nice and soft. If you like it, keep using it. But I would caution you to still keep an eye on your hairloss and step it up with propecia or some other topical when it starts to accelerate.

Also, you might have well use Nixion and Nizoral in combination. I do, and I use t-gel as well. My hair wash routine goes

1: t-gel to wash off the majority of the dirt/gunk in my hair
2: Nizoral (the t-gel washing means that I get more lather with nizoral) and let it sit while I wash my body.
3: Nioxin shampoo, let it sit while I rinse my body off.
4: Nioxin conditioner, let it sit in for a minute.

Sounds like a lot, but it's worth it to do what I can to keep my hair on my head.

You dont do that daily do you? beacuse if you did that daily, that would be a ton of tugging and pulling and that would be a ton of chemicals on your head at once.

I do, although sometimes I skip the T-gel if I don't feel like putting it on.

I agree that it's a ton of washing, but I've not noticed negative results with my approach to keeping my hair.

There are still hairs in the tub, but less than before I started on finasteride.

I really don't think it's that big of a deal. All the "chemicals" are suppose to be good for you. It's not like it's a bad idea to wash your hands 4 times before you eat or anything. Each of the shampoos has a specific purpose/reason for the use.
