Hi all

I'm 33 and have been receding slowly for a few years. I'm probably a 3 on the scale but it's starting to move quicker the last couple of months.

I've been reading the forums and I'm confused! So many conflicting opinions and a lot of advice seems to conflict with the treatment advice from the main site.

I really don't want to take finasteride and at this stage and with how much hair i have I think I would like to try the topical treatments first.

I was thinking of starting with Nizoral, Revivogen and S5 first as it seems Revivogen could have worked in the past but the formula was not great.

After giving this a try for a few months I was then thinking Regaine Foam to get some new hair growth. My head is pretty itchy especially around the areas that I'm receding so any help there would be great. Hopefully the Nizoral can help.

Anyone in or been in a similar situation that can offer advice? Also, any aussies here? I can find the revivogen and Regaine fine but S5 doesn't seem to be available in Aus. It's out of stock on the site too.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

Is there a reason that you don't want to take finasteride? Topicals might work for you, but (in general) finasteride has a much better chance of stopping or drastically slowing hair loss.

If you're afraid of sides, then that's understandable. However, just remember that it's about 15x easier to KEEP the hair you have than it is to REGROW the hair that you've lost. I put off finasteride for 2 years before I finally got on it. My hairloss slowed to a crawl 2 months later. I only have a thinning spot on my crown, but I feel like I wouldn't have it if I'd gotten on finasteride earlier.

Yeah I understand that finasteride has a lot better chance of success, but I'm just not comfortable with altering DHT throughout my whole body. I'd much rather just try and keep it local.

So anyone know where to get S5 at the moment?

I don't understand this fascination with S5. It isn't proven in clinical studies to work for hair loss.

All we have about these topical anit-androgens are personal anecdotes, anecdotes that have not been repeated on a massive scale.

I think Irishpride is the only one I've seen with an impressive result from topicals.

Sure it is! There's a rather famous Italian study (famous on these hairloss sites) that successfully tested topical spironolactone on balding men. I'm not saying that topical spironolactone is as good an antiandrogen as (say) topical RU58841, but it does have some tested and proven results published in medical journals.

I don't understand why the site is saying S5 is great but not many in here seem to think it works?

Is the site just a shopfront, or is it actually worth reading?

this is just my personal opinion, as i don't really know anything about S5. but generally if the site is making money off of it, i don't really pay attention. i trust the forums cause it's made up of a lot of people all of which are in the exact same spot as me, and none of which are trying to sell me anything.
