newbie - thinning hair on top frontal - questions

Hi, I'm 30 and asian. My hair started thinning about a year ago. My front crown. In the past 3 days, I've had 2 people ask me about my hair loss. It sucks and sad.

Can someone please be kind enough to help answer my questions? I tried to 'search' but didn't find anything.

1. Does insurance cover propecia or rogaine? Do they give referral to see a hair specialist?

* I know I can ask my family doctor but I'm embarrassed.

2. Do you recommend one medication over the other? propecia or rogaine or ???

Hi nooc looks like you're having some great results, I read you had no sides with proscar, what about the dreaded shedding I keep reading about? Did you experience this? Do you have any current photos?

I'm still trying to decide whether to start propecia or not so any advice or encouragement would be much appreciated.

btw I'm also asian.

For those who are taking Proscar, Tricomin, Nizoral, etc... are they prescription drug or over the counter?
